Today’s Gameday Preview: Thunderbirds @ Giants (2-2) and more!

DUBNetwork Feature game of the night: Seattle Thunderbirds @ Vancouver Giants (2-2) 7:30 PM PDT

In a sea-saw style series, tonight the Vancouver Giants look to take the series lead back in Game 5 of this first round Western Conference series.

The Seattle Thunderbirds have never led the series, and have merely avoided the thought of elimination.

This series has had it all, from upsets to blowouts, to suspensions, and just through and through just having the unexpected when least expected.

The last time out, Seattle defied odds once again coming back from a 3-0 deficit to eventually defeat the top seed in the west by a 4-3 score.

That in turn is in a nutshell what this series has been like thus far, in some way every game seems to have an element defy the odds.

There’s no way in telling what will happen tonight at the Langley Events Centre, although one thing is for sure, and that’s a Game 6 back in Kent, WA.

Davis Koch has been a big time contributor this season for the Giants and has carried that into the playoffs so far, notching a goal and an assist to have his playoff point total sitting at seven coming into tonight.

On the other hand, Andrej Kukuca and Matthew Wedman for Seattle were monumental in Game 4 both counting a goal and assist in the comeback effort.

Someone will take the series lead tonight, a big step towards one of these teams moving onto the next round.

Other Friday night action:

Medicine Hat Tigers @ Edmonton Oil Kings (2-2)

  • This series has been very back and forth with one team grabbing the reigns and dominating the last two games. While the first two games of this series were decided by one goal, the last two saw one team put five goals on the board. Something to watch tonight will be who draws first blood, as whoever scores first has been a winner three of four times.
