DUBNetwork Feature game of the night: Giants @ Royals 3:05 PM PST

Tonight’s DUBNetwork feature game showcases two teams who will be playing their third game against each other in as many days. The Vancouver Giants (40-14-2-2) got the better of the visiting Victoria Royals (31-25-1-2) on Friday night 4-0. Then on Saturday, the Royals edged the Giants in a spectacular 5-4 shootout game.

Despite the loss on Saturday, the Giants locked up their first B.C. Division title in eight seasons with getting one point for the extra-time loss.

The Giants still have something to play for in their final 10 games. They trail the Everett Silvertips by four points for the top seed in the Western Conference playoffs with two games in hand.

Meanwhile the Royals are looking more and more set in the second spot in the B.C. They lead the Kelowna Rockets by eight points with a game in hand. As the Rockets only have eight games left, there is not a lot of time to make up that many points.

Jadon Joseph and Bowen Byram each had three points Saturday and rookie 16-year-old Justin Sourdif had two points on Friday.

For Victoria Kody McDonald has the hot stick with five goals in his last six games.

Expected in goal:

  • Trent Miner (VAN) 1.975 GAA, .926 SV%- Despite David Tendeck being back from an absence for personal reason, he will get the start. He is 1-0-0-1 against the Royals, giving up four goals on 73 total shots.
  • Brock Gould (VIC) 3.573 GAA, .872 SV%- Despite Griffen Outhouse‘s strong play last night, Gould gets his second start in three games against the Giants. He is 0-2 against them with seven goals allowed on 61 shots.

Other Sunday Action:

  • The Warriors have taken all three games so far in the season series and none of the contests were close. They have beaten Kootenay by 3-1, 5-1 and 9-1 scores.
