WHL Draft prospects selected in USHL Futures Draft

The United States Hockey League (USHL) held its annual USHL Futures Draft on Wednesday and there were a total of 143 under-17 players selected over 10 rounds.

Of the 143 selections by the 15 participating USHL teams, 29 were players previously chosen in either the WHL Bantam Draft or the WHL US Prospects Draft. WHL prospects selected include two goaltenders, five defensemen, and 22 forwards. The majority of WHL prospects selected are American, with just five hailing from north of the border. Players from Minnesota led the way with 10, followed by California with eight.

18 of the players were also selected in last year’s inaugural WHL US Prospects Draft and there were 11 players from the 2020 WHL Bantam Draft. The Kamloops Blazers had the most prospects taken in the USHL Futures Draft with four, while the Portland Winterhawks saw three prospects selected. The Edmonton Oil Kings, Lethbridge Hurricanes, Swift Current Broncos, Moose Jaw Warriors and Victoria Royals did not have any players taken in the USHL Futures Draft.
