Three Rebels named to NHL Central Scouting ‘Players to Watch’ List

NHL Central Scouting released its preliminary list of players to watch for the 2021 NHL Draft.

Included in the list are three Red Deer Rebels, two of whom are first-time eligible players. All three players are listed as C prospects, meaning they are currently fourth, fifth, or sixth round candidates for the draft.

Christoffer Sedoff is the holdover from the 2020 NHL Draft, the 6-foot-1, 185-pound Helsinki, FIN native will be returning to the Rebels for his second season when play gets underway. Last season Sedoff scored five goals and added 14 assists in 61 games. The defenseman has been loaned to HIFK U20 in Finland as well as FPS in Finland until training camps are underway.

First-time draft-eligible players for the Rebels include Jayden Grubbe and Kyle Masters.

Masters spent much of his time injured last season following an incident at the U17 challenge in November. Over his 24 games with the Rebels, he scored twice and added an assist. The team will look for him to make a big improvement in his development from last March. Masters was the 16th overall pick in the 2018 WHL Bantam Draft.

The Rebels offense will also be looking to Grubbe to take a big step in his development. The 17-year-old forward stepped in nicely with the Rebels, hitting the back of the net six times and assisting on another 23 goals over his 57 games. Grubbe was the seventh overall pick in the 2018 WHL Bantam Draft
