This week in the Windy City: A look at the Hurricanes

It’s been a busy few days for the Lethbridge Hurricanes who have just wrapped up four games in a five-day road trip. Now they prepare to return home this coming weekend for a pair of games. Also, multiple Hurricanes have hit milestones in their careers, a few of whom are featured below. It’s time to get caught up in the Windy City.

Roadtrip

The Hurricanes hit the highway on Friday night (Oct 11th). The first stop on their road trip was in Prince Albert against the defending WHL champion Raiders. They dropped that game 4-2 before moving on to Saskatoon where their luck was no better, suffering a 2-1 setback. The Hurricanes gathered in the first points of the trip using a strong second period to beat Pats 5-4 in Regina. Lethbridge wrapped up the trip Wednesday night in Moose Jaw, where Carl Tetachuk earned the shutout in a 6-0 rout of the Warriors. Alex Cotton and D-jay Jerome both led the way with two goals each.

Milestones

During the road trip, one Hurricane scored his first WHL goal. Ty Nash not only scored against the Raiders on Friday, but he also scored his second career goal on Sunday in Regina. Nash is the son of former NHLer Tyson Nash.

Defenceman Ty Prefontaine and forward Logan Barlage hit games played milestones. The overage defenceman hit 200 games on Friday night in Prince Albert, while it was 150 games for Barlage when he suited up in Saskatoon.

Dylan Cozens hit 150 career points in the game in Moose Jaw assisting on an Alex Cotton goal.

Special Teams

The power play for Lethbridge continues to be in the bottom five of the WHL, converting on 14.3% of their chances. Cozens leads the team in power play points with five on the season. Calen Addison has four points. On the flip side, the penalty kill sits tenth in the league at 82.5%. Four players have short-handed markers for the team.

Shooting the breeze

The Hurricanes return to action on Friday night as they return home to host the Regina Pats. They will also be in action Saturday when the Moose Jaw Warriors come calling.

Keep an eye on Dino Kambeitz, just two points shy of 50 for his career and three games shy of 150 heading into the weekend.
