On their second night of a weekend back-to-back, the Portland Winterhawks traveled to the Angel of the Winds Arena, home of the Everett Silvertips, for the final time this season. The Silvertips travel out to Portland twice more before the season comes to a close. With a 6-2 win, Everett remains undefeated against the team from Portland this season.
Goaltending proved to be as important as ever
Dustin Wolf continued to do what Dustin Wolf does best, stopping 37 of the 39 shots he was peppered with over the course of the game. For a while, it seemed as though he was easily going to be the player of the game. However, a teammate later had other plans.
On the other end of the ice, Dante Giannuzzi started his second game in as many nights. After holding the Seattle Thunderbirds to just one goal on Saturday, Sunday afternoon saw the Silvertips slip five past him before Brock Gould came in to finish the game with 11:53 left in the third period. Gould stopped five of the six shots he faced as the home team fired off a total of 34 shots throughout the 60 minutes, not including a number of hit posts in the first period.
As the game went on
The Winterhawks looked to control the first period as they outshot the Silvertips 18-7. Unfortunately, neither team was able to find the back of the net. Soon, however, the tide seemed to turn. After a pretty smooth first 20 minutes, with no scoring, the two teams returned to the ice looking to put some numbers on the board. Five goals to match the five penalties between the two teams did just that.
For the Silvertips, Jalen Price scored his first goal of the season. However, it turns out Ethan Regnier stole the show, scoring the first hat trick of his WHL career.

Resulting from the game
Sunday’s win puts Everett seven points clear of the second-place Winterhawks. Meanwhile, the team has taken the second-fewest penalty minutes in the US Division (121), with only the Spokane Chiefs seeing fewer (107) but with two fewer games played.
The Winterhawks are the only team yet to find a win against the division leaders, but they have two more chances to do so.
