The Winnipeg ICE took part in their first CHL Import Draft today. They ended up drafting two players from overseas.
The first player is Czech Republic-born, Michal Teply who was chosen fourth overall.
With their 64th pick, the ICE chose Nino Kinder from Germany.
Teply:
Michal started his season with Bili Tygri Liberec U19 team where he put together a pretty decent season in minimal action.
In eight games, he put up nine points (4G). He also had six playoff points (2G). Michal also played 15 games with Bili Tygri Liberec and he had 10 points (4G).
On a loan basis, the 18-year-old put up 10 points (4G) in 23 games with HC Benatky nad Jizerou of the Czech2 league.
In all last season, Michal put up 29 points (9G) at the U18 level. He added two points (1G) at the U19 level and four points (3G) at the U20 level. All were in the Czech Republic.
Four of the points came at the Hlinka Gretzky Cup.
Teply was drafted in the fourth round, 105th overall by the Chicago Blackhawks in this year’s NHL Draft.
He’s 6’3” and is 187 pounds.
Kinder:
Nino was very productive in Germany this past season. With the Eisbaren Juniors Berlin U20 club, Kinder put up 41 points (17G) and he was a plus 12. He also put up eight points (2G) in the playoffs.
Nino played five games in the DEL with Eisbaren Berlin where he didn’t put up any points. He’s set to play with the team full-time this season.
In all last season on the International level, Kinder had seven goals and 11 assists.
Nino stands in at 6’0” and he’s 163 pounds.
