Daily Dose of the Dub: Winnipeg wins draft lottery; WHL hands out yearly awards

Winnipeg picking first

The newly named Winnipeg ICE will be selecting first overall on May 2nd at the WHL Bantam Draft. The ICE had the second best odds to win the pick with 23.8% chance of winning, behind Prince George (previously Swift Current’s pick) who had a 28.6% chance. The franchise has picked first three previous times (1996, Steve McCarthy…1997, Jarret Stoll…and in 2016 where they picked current captain Peyton Krebs. To round out the lottery day, Prince George is picking second and fourth while Saskatoon (previously Regina’s pick) will pick third, Kelowna will pick fifth and Brandon will pick sixth.
