Moose Jaw Warriors forward Brayden Tracey has been named WHL Player of the Week after posting 11 points (6G, 5A) in four games, with his team going 3-1-0-0 in the process. The 2019 NHL Draft prospect has an impressive 73 points (31G, 42A) in 58 games in his rookie season with a Moose Jaw team that is knocking on the door for a playoff spot in the East. He was originally drafted in the first round by Moose Jaw, 21st overall in 2016.

Edmonton Oil Kings goalie Dylan Myskiw was named WHL Goaltender of the Week with a 3-0-0-0 record to keep the Oil Kings in the Central Division lead, being two points ahead of the second place Lethbridge Hurricanes. The 1999-born goalie posted a 1,00 GAA, .967 save percentage and his first career WHL shutout in a 38 save performance in a 5-0 win over Medicine Hat last Monday. He improves his record to 23-11-2-3 with a 2.68 GAA, .920 save percentage and the one shutout.

The Spokane Chiefs have signed General Manager Scott Carter to a two-year contract extension to keep him through the 2021/22 WHL season. This is his third season with the team after joining the organization in ’16/’17 season, having previously been a scout for the Toronto Maple Leafs for several seasons. The Chiefs are tied with Tri-City for third in the US Division, having a game in hand with a 69 points and a record of 31-19-2-0 in 57 games.

The Calgary Hitmen have recalled 2003-born forward prospect Zac Funk from the Fraser Valley Thunderbird of the BCMML. The Vernon, BC native was the Hitmen’s second round selection (43rd overall) in 2018 and has 55 points (33G, 22A) in 36 midget games this season and will be looking to make his WHL debut.
In another transaction, the Hitmen reassigned goalie Brayden Peters to the Lethbridge Midget AAA Hurricanes of the AMHL. He has appeared in two WHL games this season, posting a 1-0-0-0 record with a 2.87 GAA and a .909 save percentage.

Former Portland Winterhawk standout Nic Petan was involved in the NHL trade deadline festivities, having been traded to the Toronto Maple Leafs from the Winnipeg Jets. The Delta, BC native had an illustrious junior career, including a WHL championship in 2013 and a World Junior gold medal in 2015 to go with 358 points (110G, 248A) in 252 games with the Winterhawks. Petan has skated in 108 NHL games with the Jets, compiling five goals and 18 assists since being selected in the second round (43rd overall) in the 2013 NHL Entry Draft.
