With no WHL games until December 27th, there wasn’t much news around the league today. But there was some news involving some alumni around the NHL.
Cave gets his first

Former Swift Current Bronco Colby Cave recorded the first goal of his young NHL career Monday night in a 4-0 win over Montreal. It took just 16 NHL games for him to achieve the milestone after signing with Boston as an undrafted free agent following a successful 20 year old season in which he captained the Broncos. Cave was originally drafted by Kootenay in the first round of the 2009 Bantam Draft, 13th overall but was traded to Swift Current in the 2011 blockbuster that sent current Vegas Golden Knight Cody Eakin the other way. In 287 WHL games, he had 95 goals and 107 assists for 202 points.
Hart gets the call

Former Everett Silvertips standout Carter Hart has been recalled by the Philadelphia Flyers from their AHL affiliate, the Lehigh Valley Phantoms. This is the first call up for the former CHL Goaltender of the Year who is enjoying a good first pro season after a slow start, he holds a record of 9-5-1 with a 3.05 GAA and a .901 SV%.
Raiders send three back
The Raiders have returned 2002-born defenceman Braydon Clark, 2003-born defenceman Nolan Allan, and 2003-born forward Tyson Laventure to their respective midget clubs.

Prince Albert have returned 2017 47th overall pick ’02 Braydon Clark (Valley West Giants, BCMML), 2018 third overall pick ’03 Nolan Allan (Saskatoon Blazers, SMHL) and 2018 31st overall pick ’03 Tyson Laventure (OHA Edmonton Prep, CSSHL). Clark went pointless in six games with two penalty minutes, Laventure went pointless in three games and Allan put up one assist in seven games.
WHL connections on Team Russia

Red Deer’s Alexander Alexeyev is expected to play a big role for Russia in these upcoming world juniors, the 19 year old Washington first rounder has put up 31 points in 30 games this season for the Rebels.
The other is Medicine Hat Tigers import pick, Vasili Podkolzin who has made the Russian world junior team after an impressive performance at the World Junior A Challenge putting up eight points in six games. Podkolzin was selected in the second round, 92nd overall in the 2018 CHL Import Draft by the Tigers but elected to stay in Russia this season where he plays in the SKA St. Petersburg organization. He has mostly played in the MHL which is their junior league, putting up seven points in ten games. He has also played in seven VHL games recording one goal as well as one game in the KHL.
