Daily Dose of the Dub: Raiders release three players, Islanders release rookie camp roster

Raiders make three cuts to the active roster

The Prince Albert Raiders have cut three players from their pre-season active roster:

  • Niall Crocker has been returned to the Delta Hockey Academy of the CSSHL. The 2004-born forward was a first-round pick of the Raiders in the 2019 WHL Bantam Draft and is ineligible to spend a full season with the Raiders.
  • Logan Linklater is headed to the Swift Current Legionnaires of the SMHL. Linklater was a sixth-round pick of the Raiders in the 2018 WHL Draft.
  • Defenseman Adam McNutt will also be suiting up in the SMHL, with the Saskatoon Contacts. The Raiders selected him in the fourth round of the 2018 WHL Bantam Draft. It’s also worth noting that McNutt was selected by the La Ronge Ice Wolves in the third round of the 2018 SJHL Draft and could see some time there this season as well.

Luding joins MJHL’s Flyers

Dorrin Luding (48 GP with the Saskatoon Blades, Everett Silvertips, and Seattle Thunderbirds) has signed on with the MJHL’s Winkler Flyers for the 2019-20 season. Luding had been on the Blades training camp roster during this pre-season as he tried to earn a spot with a WHL club for his final year of junior eligibility.

Islanders release rookie camp roster

The New York Islanders have released their rookie camp roster. Reece Newkirk (Portland Winterhawks) is the lone current WHLer on the roster however WHL alumni like Kieffer Bellows (Portland Winterhawks), David Quenneville (Medicine Hat Tigers) and Parker Wotherspoon (Tri-City Americans) are also listed on the roster.
