Oil Kings sign Henderson

The Edmonton Oil Kings have signed forward Jayden Henderson to a WHL Education Contract. The 16-year-old was selected by Edmonton in the seventh round of the 2018 WHL Bantam Draft and is currently playing with the Red Deer Chiefs Midget AAA squad in the AMHL where he has notched 14 goals and 24 assists in 27 games this season.

Tigers sign Bonni 

The Medicine Hat Tigers have signed 2019 sixth-round bantam draft pick Ben Bonni to a WHL Education Contract. Bonni is currently in the MMAAAHL where he has six goals and seven assists in 28 games with the Winnipeg Thrashers Midget AAA team. The signing gives the Tigers a league-leading nine 2019 WHL Bantam Draft picks under contract.

Haynes returns to Midget

Carson Haynes is returning to the Lethbridge Hurricanes Midget AAA team after suiting up in one game for the Tri-City Americans on their B.C. Division road trip.

Franklin named WHL Player of the Week

Kamloops Blazers captain Zane Franklin has been named the WHL Player of the week leading a dominant Kamloops team to four wins this week tallying two goals and eight assists along the way. Franklin’s best game came in a 12-3 shellacking of the Tri-City Americans where he registered a goal and four assists.

Patera named WHL Goaltender of the Week

For the second time this month, Brandon Wheat Kings netminder Jiri Patera has been named the WHLès goaltender of the week. Patera allowed just one goal on 52 shots faced this weekend posting a 0.50 GAA and .981 Save Percentage to go along with a perfect 2-0-0-0 record this week.

Broncos announce leadership group

Jaxan Kaluski has been named captain of the Swift Current Broncos for the remainder of this season. He’ll be joined by Hayden OstirErik Houk, and perhaps most notably rookies Aiden Bulych & Hendrik De Klerk.  

Pats unveil WHL Suits Up jerseys

The Regina Pats unveiled the jerseys they will be wearing for this Friday’s WHL Suits Up to Promote Organ Donation game on Friday. The baby blue jerseys inspired by the classic Hockey Night in Canada logo will be available for fan auction on Wednesday.

Repik signs extension in the Czech Republic

Michal Repik (176 GP, 75 G, 93 A with the Vancouver Giants from 2005-08) has signed a three-year contract extension with Sparta Prague in the Czech Republic. A former second-round pick of the NHL’s Florida Panthers, Repik is the team’s captain and leads the team in goals (16) and points (29) in 35 games this season.
