Daily Dose of the Dub: Jarvis nets overtime winner; Russia takes Game 2 of Canada-Russia Series

Crnkovic’s two points lead Canada Black

-Saskatoon’s Kyle Crnkovic had a goal and an assist, Prince Albert’s Ozzy Wiesblatt had a goal and Spokane’s Jack Finley had an assist as Canada Black used a big second period to edge the United States 5-4.

Crnkovic has three points now, Finley has one and Wiesblatt has two in three games.

Jarvis the overtime hero for Canada Red

Portland’s Seth Jarvis had an assist and the overtime winner for Canada Red as they edged Finland 5-4. Vancouver’s Justin Sourdif and Prince Albert’s Kaiden Guhle each added an assist.

Jarvis has two goals and three assists for five points now while Sourdif has one and Guhle has two. Jarvis is fourth among scorers at the tourney.

A big reason Canada Red got to overtime was the stellar play of Kamloops’ Dylan Garand. He turned away 43-of-46 shots including several key stops late as Canada Red killed a penalty.

Two more goals for McClennon in Canada White win

Kootenay’s Connor McClennon had two more goals and now has nine points in three games (leading the U17 tournament) as Canada White blew past the Czech Republic 5-1.

Edmonton’s Jake Neighbours had an assist in the win and now has three points.

3-1 win helps Russia split series with Team WHL

Russia overcame an early deficit and scored three straight to take the second game in the WHL-Russia segment of the CIBC Canada-Russia Series.

Spokane’s Ty Smith netted the lone goal for Team WHL off assists from Everett’s Connor Dewar and Riley Sutter.

Vancouver’s David Tendeck made 25 saves.

-Everett Silvertips: 16-year-old defenseman Dylan Anderson was at practice on Tuesday. He played one game for Everett earlier this season.

Kootenay ICE: Added defenseman Anson McMaster (Okotoks-AMHL). McMaster, a 16-year-old was taken by the ICE in the second round in 2017.

-Prince George Cougars: Overage forward Mike MacLean is out day-to-day (upper body).

-Saskatoon Blades: Center Josh Paterson and defenseman Jackson Caller were listed as out day-to-day with an illness.

-Seattle Thunderbirds: Overage forward Noah Philp is out week-to-week with an upper body ailment.

-Tri-City Americans:  Defenseman Riley Bruce was added as out one week with an upper body injury.

-Victoria Royals: Added goalie Connor Martin (AMHL-Calgary Royals). This is due to goalie Brock Gould being listed as out week-to-week with an upper body injury. Ralph Jarratt also just came back from injury and is again out this time 4-to-6 weeks with a lower body injury. Kaid Oliver is out day-to-day with a lower body ailment.
