Daily Dose of the Dub: Hitmen, Americans finalize leadership groups. Euerby joins Powell River, Raiders release Balas from active roster

Hitmen announce leadership group

The Calgary Hitmen have unveiled their leadership group for the 2019-20 season. Mark Kastelic returns as captain for the second consecutive season while Dakota Krebs and Riley Stotts will remain in the leadership group as assistant captains. Joining the leadership group are Carson Focht and Jett Woo who both happen to be Vancouver Canucks prospects as well.

Americans leadership group announced 

The Tri-City Americans also announced their leadership group for the 2019-20 season. As previously announced, Kyle Olson will wear the ‘C’ while Sasha MutalaKrystof Hrabik, and Connor Bouchard will also wear ‘A’s. The Americans also say that Beck Warm will be a part of the leadership group, although he won’t wear a letter on his jersey.

Euerby joins Powell River 

With the Vancouver Giants deciding to run with David Tendeck and Trent Miner as their goalies this season, Braedy Euerby has joined the BCHL’s Powell River Kings. Euerby didn’t suit up for a regular-season game with the Giants but did appear in two preseason games posting a 1-1 record, 3.50 GAA and 0.885 save percentage.

Raiders release Balas from the active roster 

The Prince Albert Raiders have released goaltender Brett Balas from the active roster meaning the squad has decided to run with a tandem of Boston Bilous and Carter Serhyenko this season. Balas, who only saw action in one preseason game, is expected to join the AJHL’s Drumheller Dragons.

Leslie listed by Cougars 

Zach Leslie has been added to the 50-man protected list of the WHL’s Prince George Cougars. The 15-year-old forward has been playing for the BCMML’s Cariboo Cougars this year where he has one assist in four games.

Honka heads home 

Julius Honka (62 GP, 16 G, 40 A with the Swift Current Broncos) has signed on with his hometown club while he awaits a trade or new contract in the NHL. Honka has played 87 games in the NHL and has notched two goals and 11 assists with the Dallas Stars. He is currently a restricted free agent.

Tambellini heads to Sweden 

Adam Tambellini (102 GP, 64 G, 61 A with the Calgary Hitmen) has signed in the Swedish Hockey League with MODO for 2019-20. He played in the AHL last year with the Belleville Senators and tallied 13 goals and 19 assists in 72 games.
