Daily Dose of the Dub: Former WHL players on the move; Palaga shuts out Kootenay

Nogier back up with Winnipeg

The former Red Deer Rebel and Saskatoon Blade has been recalled from the AHL’s Manitoba Moose by the Jets. He played in 235 WHL games, posting eight goals and 42 assists for 50 points.

Scherbak waived

Another former Saskatoon Blade was placed on waivers by the Montreal Canadiens. The talented Russian winger who was drafted in the CHL Import Draft and posted 78 points in 68 games his rookie year. He was traded the next season to the Everett Silvertips where he led them to a first-round playoff exit against the Portland Winterhawks.

He had 160 points in 150 total WHL games.

Scherbak has played in 29 NHL games and has seven points.

  1. Max Palaga (Everett) – He stopped all 36 shots from the Kootenay ICE and spoiled the debut of Austin Schellenberg and River Fahey with Kootenay. The Silvertips took this one 3-0. This was his first career WHL shutout.
  2. Linden McCorrister (Brandon) – Linden had his second career WHL hat-trick as the Brandon Wheat Kings slipped away from the Swift Current Broncos 5-2.
  3. Orrin Centazzo (Kamloops) – The speedy winger netted a goal and had two assists as the Blazers beat the visiting Seattle Thunderbirds 6-3.

Dawson Holt had an assist and eventual game-winning goal as the Vancouver Giants doubled up the Tri-City Americans 4-2… Dante Hannoun and Igor Martyonov each had two goals and the Victoria Royals ousted the Prince George Cougars 5-1. Griffen Outhouse was scratched… Jordy Bellerive had a goal and an assist and Jake Leschyshyn netted his first goal with Lethbridge as the Hurricanes flew by the Medicine Hat Tigers 3-1… Kaden Elder had an assist and netted the overtime winner for the Calgary Hitmen in their 4-3 victory over the Edmonton Oil Kings. Todd Scott made his season debut as he returned from the injury list for Edmonton… Noah Gregor had three assists and the Prince Albert Raiders won yet again – this time 5-2 over the Regina Pats. They run their record to 26-1. Brett Leason scored and he has a point in the first 27 games of the Pats season… Tristin Langan netted an assist on all three Moose Jaw goals in their 3-2 win in Red Deer… Dawson Davidson had two markers, with one being the OT winner for the Saskatoon Blades and they edged the Kelowna Rockets 5-4… Cody Glass had three assists for the Portland Winterhawks in their 8-2 rout of the Spokane Chiefs.
