Dewar earns NHL contract

Everett Silvertips captain Connor Dewar signed a three-year entry level contract with the Minnesota Wild on Tuesday. The 19-year-old was originally drafted by the Wild in the third round (92nd overall) of last year’s NHL Entry Draft after putting up 68 points in 68 games last season. This season while leading his team to another US Division title, he has produced 76 points (34G, 42A) in 55 games which leads the team.

Raiders clinch season title

The Prince Albert Raiders clinched the Scott Munro Memorial Trophy as the best team in the regular season with a 6-0 win over the Swift Current Broncos. The Raiders have been atop the WHL standings virtually since day one despite losing two of their top players in Ian Scott and Brett Leason for a period of time to play for Canada at the World Juniors. They’ve compiled a 51-9-2-2 record in 64 games this season.

Wolf gets national honours

For the third time this season, Everett Silvertips netminder Dustin Wolf was named CHL Goaltender of the Week after going 2-0-0-0 with a 0.48 GAA, a .981 save percentage and a shutout. The 2019 NHL Draft prospect has a 40-13-2-1 record, with a 1.71 GAA, a .936 save percentage and seven shutouts this season.

Liwiski suspended

Kelowna Rockets forward Mark Liwiski has been suspended for an amount of games that has yet to be determined by the WHL for a boarding major on the hit below…This is the rookie forward’s second suspension of his career, having been previously served one game for an accumulation of kneeing penalties.

Milestones

Brandon Wheat Kings import goaltender Jiri Patera earned his first shutout of his WHL career with a 29 save performance in a 7-0 win over Kootenay. The Vegas Golden Knights prospect has a record of 22-15-3-2 in his first WHL season to go with a 3.20 GAA and a .910 save percentage to go with the shutout and has been a big reason for the Wheat Kings’ current playoff push.

Everett Silvertips rookie defenceman Ronan Seeley scored his first WHL goal in a 3-1 win over Spokane on Tuesday night. The 16-year-old was Everett’s first round pick (20th overall) in 2017 out of the Red Deer Rebels midget AAA team and has skated in 48 games this season, collecting the goal and eight assists to go with a +12 rating.

2nd Star: Brandon’s Luka Burzan had two goals and an assists in a 7-0 win over the ICE.

3rd Star: Prince Albert’s Ian Scott had a 24 save shutout in a 6-0 win over Swift Current.
