Daily Dose of the Dub: Crickard no longer coaching Rockets; Elmer and Hurricanes fall in high scoring affair

Crickard leaves the Rockets

The Kelowna Rockets announced that assistant coach Travis Crickard is no longer with the team. He was entering his fifth season with the team and was part of the 2015 Ed Chynoweth winning squad. The former goalie played in the SJHL with the Flin Flin Bombers before going to the OHL to be a goalie coach with the Ottawa 67’s. He then moved onto the Rockets where he was goalie and assistant coach and ultimately assistant coach until now.

Three stars of the night:

  1. Jake Elmer (Lethbridge) – It was in a losing cause but the Hurricanes forward had a hat-trick and two assists for a five-point night. Tri-City edged Lethbridge in overtime thanks to Isaac Johnson 8-7.
  2. Brandon Hagel (Red Deer) – Two goals and two assists for four points as the Rebels got back to winning, 6-2 over Swift Current.
  3. Shane Farkas (Portland) – His team did not need him to do much early, but he made 22 saves in getting his second shutout of the season. This time it was in a 3-0 Portland win over Prince George.
