The Prince George Cougars have signed Aiden Reeves to a WHL Player Agreement. A hometown kid, the 2002-born defenseman had five goals and 17 assists in 28 games with the Okanagan Rockets of the BCCML last season. The Cougars added Reeves to their 50-man protected list prior to training camp and he had an impressive camp.
Giants sign ’04 born Cull

The Vancouver Giants have signed 2004-born forward Julian Cull to a WHL Player Agreement. A fifth-round pick of the Giants in this past May’s WHL Bantam Draft, Cull had 22 goals and 14 assists in 29 games with the Pacific Coast Academy Bantam Prep team in the CSSHL.
Silvertips likely to start the year without two key contributors

The Everett Silvertips will likely be without Jackson Berezowski and Martin Fasko-Rudas to start the season according to Josh Horton from The Herald. Berezowski sustained an upper-body injury on Saturday against Spokane and is considered questionable for the home opener when the team faces off against Tri-City. Fasko-Rudas is still recovering from off-season surgery and is expected to miss the first three games of the season before joining the team at the beginning of October.

The Everett Silvertips have reached a multi-year broadcast which will have their games continue to be heard on KRKO 1380, the Silvertips broadcast home since they joined the league in 2003-04. The agreement lasts until the end of the 2020-21 season and Mike Benton will continue as the play-by-play broadcaster for the Silvertips.
Thunderbirds remove Popowich, Schaefer from their training camp roster
The Thunderbirds roster for the weekend is out and doesn’t have Sam Popowich or Reid Schaefer on it. It appears they’ve been sent home. Both played well in camp and should be in the mix down the road.

The Seattle Thunderbirds appear to have released Sam Popowich and Reid Schaefer from their training camp roster. Both players were selected in the 2018 WHL Bantam Draft and will likely be returning to the CSSHL to start the year.
Savoie to start the year with ICE

According to a report from Mike Sawatsky of the Winnipeg Free Press, Matthew Savoie will be in the lineup for the Winnipeg ICE on opening night in Brandon and for the home opener the following night. Sawatsky also reported that Savoie is poised to play “30-plus games” with the ICE this season. In the modern era, Saskatoon Blades forward Kirby Dach holds the record for most games played as a 15-year old with 19 according to QuantHockey.

The Winnipeg ICE have recalled Daniel Hauser from the Edge School in the CSSHL. Last season he posted a 3.00 GAA and .911 save percentage in 23 games.
Hitmen list Tibbles, Maguire

The Calgary Hitmen have added Shayne Tibbles to their 50-man protected list. The 2004-born forward went undrafted in the 2019 WHL Bantam Draft following a season in which he posted 11 goals and 23 assists in 33 games with the Calgary Flames in the AMBHL

The Hitmen also listed defenseman Brody Maguire from the same program in the AMBHL. Last season he notched four goals and 15 assists in 31 games but went undrafted in the WHL Bantam Draft.

Lethbridge Hurricanes forward Dylan Cozens has been cleared to play in the Buffalo Sabres Prospect Challenge after undergoing surgery for a thumb injury sustained during Sabres development camp this summer. He will be in the lineup on Friday night when the Sabres take on the New Jersey Devils and will take the first steps towards earning a job with Buffalo. If he doesn’t make the squad, Hurricanes fans can rest easy knowing that he will be returning to the team at full health.
Oil Barons acquire Fradette’s CJHL rights
West Kelowna traded Evan Fradette (01) to Fort McMurray (AJHL) for futures.
Fradette played with St. Albert Raiders Midget AAA in 2018-19 and was named AMHL Playoff MVP. He committed to the Warriors in May.

Evan Fradette, who spent part of last season with the Portland Winterhawks but did not suit up for any games, was traded in the CJHL on Thursday with his rights going from the West Kelowna Warriors of the BCHL to the Fort McMurray Oil Barons of the AJHL for future considerations.

The Reading Royals of the ECHL have signed forward Seth Swenson (306 GP, 41 G, 65 A with the Portland Winterhawks, Seattle Thunderbirds, and Lethbridge Hurricanes) to an ECHL contract for the 2019/20 season. Last season, Swenson finished up his university hockey career with the University of Guelph recording two goals and nine assists in 20 games.
