Daily Dose of the DUB: Callahan joins Rodovre, Scherbak signs with Texas Stars, and more

 

Callahan heads to Denmark

Forward Mitch Callahan (204GP, 54G, 71A with Kelowna ’08-’11) has signed with the Rodovre Mighty Bulls of Denmark’s top professional league. Last season Callahan played for Augsburger Panthers of the DEL where he scored once and added four assists. Through six games this season with Rodovre, Callahan has one goal.

Gulasi signs extension with HC Kometa Brno

Defenseman Michal Gulasi (127GP, 4G, 29A with Lethbridge ’03-’05) has signed a contract extension with HC Kometa Brno. Gulasi is a two-time Extraliga Champion with HC Kometa Brno. In 33 games this season, Gulasi has recorded six assists.

Honejsek signs extension with Berani Zlin of the Czech league

Forward Antonin Honejsek (113GP, 38G, 44A with Moose Jaw ’09-’11) has signed a multi-year deal with Berani Zlin of the Czech Extraliga. Honejsek is in his fifth consecutive season with the team from Zlin, having played 30 games and registering six goals and 16 assists. In 2013-14, Honejsek won the Extraliga Championship with PSG Zlin.

Stars sign Nikita Scherbak

Forward Nikita Scherbak (130GP, 55G, 105A with Saskatoon and Everett ’13-’15) has signed with the Texas Stars of the AHL. The Stars will be Scherbak’s fourth AHL team in six seasons. Last season, Scherbak gave the KHL a try and played 16 games for Avangard Omsk (2G,4A) and 15 games for Traktor Chelyabinsk (1G,4A). Scherbak is a first-round draft pick of the Montreal Canadiens back in 2014.

Hamblin sent to Wichita

Forward James Hamblin (323GP, 115G, 168A with Medicine Hat ’15-’20) has been assigned to the Wichita Thunder (ECHL) by the Bakersfield Condors (AHL). Hamblin has already played 22 games this season following a stint with Ostersunds IK (HockeyEttan) where he registered 12 goals and 13 assists.
