The Swift Current Broncos have acquired forward Justin Svenson from the Winnipeg ICE for a conditional ninth-round pick in the 2021 WHL Bantam Draft. Originally a third-round pick of the Red Deer Rebels in 2017, Svenson has suited up for 19 WHL games, all with Red Deer, and has yet to register a point. The ICE acquired Svenson from Red Deer as part of the monster trade that sent Cam Hausinger and Brett Davis to Red Deer. He’s currently playing in the MJHL for the Winkler Flyers where he has four goals and 14 assists in 15 games.

The Winnipeg ICE also assigned goaltender Will Gurski to the Winnipeg Blues of the MJHL. He has played two games with the ICE this season posting a 4.50 GAA and .839 Save Percentage.

In a corresponding move, the Blues sent goaltender Dante Giannuzzi to the Steinbach Pistons for future considerations. The Portland Winterhawks prospect has played four WHL games and has posted a 4.09 GAA and .833 Save Percentage.

Portland Winterhawks forward Jake Gricius has been named WHL Player of the Week. In two games this week, he recorded three goals and four assists in wins over the Prince Albert Raiders and Spokane Chiefs.

He only played one game this week but his performance was so phenomenal that Victoria Royals netminder Shane Farkas earned WHL Goaltender of the Week. In the lone game against the Kamloops Blazers, Farkas made 34 saves on 35 shots for a .971 Save Percentage and 1.00 GAA.

Beau McCue (270 GP, 85 G, 85 A with the Tri-City Americans) has signed with the Fayetteville Marksmen of the SPHL. He played one game in the ECHL this year with the Jacksonville IceMen with no points.
