Daily Dose of the Dub: Blichfeld coming back to Portland; Zamula signs with the Flyers

Sharks send Blichfeld back to Portland

The biggest name heading back to the WHL on Thursday was Portland Winterhawks winger Joachim Blichfeld. The San Jose Sharks made the surprising cut in time for the start of the WHL season, where the 20-year Dane will look to build on his point-per-game 2017-18 campaign.

Portland now has four overage players and three imports. They have two weeks to make some decisions.

Prince Albert Raiders winger Noah Gregor and Spokane Chiefs’ winger McGrew (unsigned) both survived this round of Sharks cuts, and will remain in camp for now.

Flames assign trio to WHL

The Calgary flames have sent forward Milos Roman (Vancouver) and d-men Brayden Pachal (Prince Albert) and Jake Christiansen (Everett) back to the WHL. All three were fully expected to be back in time for the start of the regular season.

Remaining in camp are high-profile signed forwards Matthew Phillips (Victoria) and Dillon Dube (Kelowna). The 1997-born and former Swift Current star, Glenn Gawdin is also still in camp.

Flyers ink Zamula to ELC; assign him to Hitmen

The Philadelphia Flyers have signed undrafted d-man Yegor Zamula to an entry-level deal, which includes him being sent back to the Calgary Hitmen for the 2018-19 season. The 2000-born Zamula registered two goals and 16 assists between Regina and Calgary last season. According to the attached article, Zamula was loaned back to his WHL club.
