Rockets move forward without Smith – hire Foote?

The Kelowna Rockets relieved head coach Jason Smith of his head coaching duties. Smith had led the Rockets to back to back 40-win seasons.

Foote is also the father of Cal Foote, who is currently playing in the AHL with the Syracuse Crunch and Nolan, who is a prospect for the 2019 NHL Draft and has 12 points in 13 games so far this year for the Rockets..

Adam previously coached Nolan as an assistant with the Colorado Thunderbirds program back in 2012-13 while Nolan was in peewee.

More recently, he was a team consultant with the Avalanche from 2013-17 and was Director of Player Development for Hockey Canada at the Spengler Cup last year.

The elder Foote played in 1,154 NHL games, compiling 308 points and 1,534 penalty minutes. He won two Stanley Cups and an Olympic gold medal as a player.
