Lacombe signs with Broncos
#SCB sign @HumboldtBroncos defenceman Chase Lacombe to a #WHL Standard Player Agreement. The 16-year-old has three assists in 29 games for Humboldt.

Chase Lacombe is staying a Bronco…..the 2002 defenceman signed a standard WHL player agreement with the Swift Current Broncos. Lacombe was acquired by Swift Current in a trade with the Edmonton Oil Kings this past August. He was originally drafted in the fifth round 101st overall.
Jones debuts with the big club

Former Portland Winterhawk Caleb Jones made his NHL debut Friday night at home against the Philadelphia Flyers. The younger brother of ex-Winterhawk and current Blue Jackets defenseman Seth Jones, recorded 18 shifts for 11:59 time on ice in the Oilers 4-1 win. He has 12 points in 21 games with Bakersfield of the AHL this season.
Toth almost gets called into action

Former Red Deer Rebel and Seattle Thunderbird goalie Rylan Toth came close to potentially getting some NHL action last night. The current UBC Thunderbird was the emergency back up in Vancouver with Flyers starter Anthony Stolarz injured and unable to return to the game. Toth would have to go as far as getting half dressed in case back up Alex Lyon also went down with injury. Ultimately the Flyers would not need the former WHLer but will no doubt be a great story for the 22 year old. In 158 WHL games, he went 90-51-11 with a 2.76 GAA and a .906 SV%. In his second season with the Thunderbirds, Toth is 7-3-0-0 with a 2.68 GAA and a .910 save percentage this year. His back up is Patrick Dea formerly of the Edmonton Oil Kings and Tri-City Americans.

Fyten scores in debut

Newly acquired Oil King Andrew Fyten didn’t take long to leave a good impression with his new teammates, scoring the overtime winner and adding an assist in his Edmonton debut in a 3-2 win. Fyten was acquired two days ago from Swift Current for a conditional fifth round pick in 2020, he now has 19 points in 28 games this season.

1st Star: Moose Jaw’s Justin Almeida got in on all of the Warriors’ goals in a 6-3 win, recording two goals and four assists.
2nd Star: Moose Jaw’s Tristin Langan recorded three goals and an assist, with his first letting the teddy bears fly for Warriors fans. All of this while celebrating his 20th birthday as well.
3rd Star: Brandon’s Stelio Mattheos had a hat trick of his own, including the overtime winner to go with an assist in a 6-5 OT win over Saskatoon.

Swift Current’s Joel Hofer had 49 saves in a losing effort….Lethbridge captain Jordy Bellerive had a goal and two assists in a 5-2 win over Kamloops….Edmonton’s Andrew Fyten had the OT winner and a helper in a 3-2 win over Calgary….Kelowna’s Leif Mattson scored both goals in a 2-1 victory over Medicine Hat….Tri-City captain Nolan Yaremko scored twice in a 3-2 OT win against Portland….Victoria’s D-Jay Jerome scored twice in a 4-2 win over Vancouver….Everett’s Riley Sutter had two goals in a 6-1 win over Seattle.
Troubling Moments
Vancouver’s Alex Kannok-Leipert was given a Third Man In penalty at the end of the Giants’ 4-2 loss to Victoria. Kannok-Leipert was given 20 penalty minutes on the play and an automatic game misconduct.
