Singer signs with Cougars

The Prince George Cougars signed their third and final first-round pick from this year’s WHL Bantam Draft to a WHL Education Contract. Ryker Singer joins the Lloydminster Bobcats of the AMBHL where he had 30 goals and 21 assists in 32 games. Those numbers put him on top among his teammates and fifth in league scoring. Rebels sign second-round pick Brigley

Blades sign Hansen

The Saskatoon Blades signed 2020 second-round pick Lukas Hansen to his WHL Education Contract on Tuesday. Playing for his hometown Winnipeg Warriors Bantam AAA, Hansen put up impressive numbers with 43 goals and 42 assists in 36 games. Check out his DUBNetwork Scouting profile here. 

Tigers sign 39th overall pick

The Medicine Hat Tigers signed defenseman Josh Van Mulligen to his WHL Education Contract after selecting him in the second round of the 2020 WHL Bantam Draft. He played for the South East Athletic Club Tigers in 2019-20 scoring 13 goals and adding 14 assists.

Chiefs give Gizowski a great birthday gift

Tuesday, May 5th was Kooper Gizowski‘s 15th birthday and he celebrated it by signing his WHL Education Contract with the Spokane Chiefs who drafted him in the second round of the WHL Bantam Draft. His 27 goals saw him tied for sixth in goals in the CSSHL and his 51 points were tops among his Northern Alberta Xtreme teammates, which includes Chiefs first-round pick Saige Weinstein. Hurricanes sign Wormald

The Lethbridge Hurricanes signed 2020 third-round WHL Bantam Draft pick Logan Wormald. He finished 21st in CSSBHL scoring with 26 goals and 36 assists in 30 games with the Yale Hockey Academy in 2019-20. Visit his DUBNetwork Scouting profile here.

Yakemchuk signs with Hitmen

2020 third-round pick Carter Yakemchuk has signed a WHL Education Contract with the Calgary Hitmen. With seven goals and 21 assists for the Calgary Flames, Yakemchuk was the second-highest scoring defenseman in the AMBHL. You can read his DUBNetwork Scouting profile here. 

Giants sign Palmieri 

The Vancouver Giants signed 2020 fourth-round pick Damian Palmieri to his WHL Education Contract on Tuesday. Our Stephen Hawco has more here. 

ICE sign Cumby

The Winnipeg ICE signed defenseman Ashton Cumby to a WHL Education Contract. A fourth-round pick of the ICE in this year’s bantam draft, Cumby played for Lloydminster Bobcats Bantam AAA putting up 13 goals and nine assists in 30 games.

McDonald commits to UBC

Connor McDonald (303 GP, 44 G, 103 A with the Kamloops Blazers, Edmonton Oil Kings and Kelowna Rockets from 2014-20) has committed to the UBC Thunderbirds for the 2020-21 season.

WHL names Official of the Year

The WHL has named Jeff Ingram this year’s recipient of the WHL Official of the Year award. This is the first time Ingram has won the award in his career which includes over 700 WHL games officiated under his belt.

Makeshift homeless shelter opens up at Royals home rink

The Save-On-Foods Memorial Centre, home to the WHL’s Victoria Royals, is being used to give temporary shelter to some of Victoria’s homeless population during the COVID-19 pandemic.

Some recognizable names selected in USHL Phase 2 Draft

The USHL held the second phase of their draft on Tuesday and there were some more recognizable names selected including:

  • Jonas Peterek (Kelowna Rockets)
  • Nick Perna (Medicine Hat Tigers)
  • Garrett Wright (Moose Jaw Warriors)
  • Hunter Strand (Victoria Royals)

Savoie, Benning commit to University of Denver

Winnipeg ICE prospect Carter Savoie and Victoria Royals prospect Michael Benning have both signed National Letters of Intent to play college hockey for the University of Denver Pioneers.

Rockets second-rounder commits to Contacts

Kelowna Rockets second-round pick Caden Price will be playing with the SMHL’s Saskatoon Contacts for the 2020-21 season.

Rams bring in Feser, Shields

The Ryerson Rams have recruited Scott Feser (230 GP, 44 G, 61 A with the Red Deer Rebels and Swift Current Broncos from 2011-16) and Mack Shields (129 GP, 3.13 GAA, 0.893 Save Percentage from 2012-16 with the Calgary Hitmen, Medicine Hat Tigers and Prince George Cougars) for the 2020-21 season. Both players had been teammates with York University.

Kings add Amundrud

Nik Admundrud (64 GP, 3.59 GAA, 0.892 Save Percentage with the Saskatoon Blades and Calgary Hitmen from 2014-2016) has joined the Red Deer College Kings for the 2020-21 season. Admundrud had been playing for the now-defunct University of Lethbridge Pronghorns.

Stransky signs in Finland

Simon Stransky (189 GP, 53 G, 99 A with the Prince Albert Raiders from 2014-2017) has signed a two year-contract with Jukurit Mikkeli in Finland. Playing for Vitkovice Ostrava in the Czech Republic in 2019-20, he had nine goals and six assists in 36 games.
