On Sunday, September 9th the Kamloops Blazers trimmed their roster down to a more manageable number of 26.
Blazers reduced roster to 26 today (4G, 8D, 14F)
Five 16yr olds re-assigned:
D Ethan Brandwood
D Trevor Thurston
F Riley Ginnell
F Reese Belton
F Daylan Kuefler— Jon Keen (@JonKeenNLSports) September 9, 2018
Forwards Riley Ginnell (02), Reese Belton (02), and Daylan Kuefler (02) were released along with defensemen Ethan Brandwood (02) and Trevor Thurston (02). This leaves Goalie Dylan Garand and Forward Josh Pillar as the only 2002 born players left on the roster.
Newcomer Jerzy Orchard, along with other 2001 born rookies (F) Kyrell Sopotyk and (D) Quinn Schmiemann are still on the roster. It’s unlikely any more players were to be released until/if the NHL camp attendees return.
The Blazers scored a 5-3 win over the rival Kelowna Rockets Saturday night, Ryley Appelt had two assists and goaltenders Rayce Ramsay and Dylan Garand split the game. Ramsay stopped all six shots he faced, while Garand gave up three on 19 shots. Kamloops finishes up the pre-season this Saturday, the 15th, up in Prince George.
