Saskatoon Blades add 2001-born forward

The Saskatoon Blades have added a little more depth to its forward core with the acquisition of 2001 born Kjell Kjemhus from the Moose Jaw Warriors.

Going to Moose Jaw in the deal is a seventh round selection in the 2022 Western Hockey League Bantam Draft.

Blades general manager Colin Priestner said Kjemhus is a tenacious player who has speed and a high compete level.

“He is known to be a great teammate and will fit in well within our culture while adding depth to our forward group,”  Priestner said in a Blades release.

Hailing from Grande Prairie, Alberta Kjemhus was drafted into the WHL by the Regina Pats with the 77th overall selection in the 2016 Bantam Draft.

Debuting in 2017 Kjemhus has skated in 79 games, scoring five goals and five assists for 10 points.

Saskatoon opens the regular season with a home and home series versus the Prince Albert Raiders. The Art Hauser Centre will host the Blades on Friday, September 20th with the home opener for the blue and gold taking place on Saturday, September 21st at the SaskTel Centre. Confirmed attendees include comedian Scott Taylor, Blades alumni Wendel Clarke and former NHLer and Spittin Chiclets podcast host Paul Bissonette.
