Blades bring in Schuldhaus

The Saskatoon Blades acquired 6’4″ d-man Brandon Schuldhaus from the Moose Jaw Warriors in exchange for second-round (2020) and fifth-round (2019) picks. Schuldhaus, 20, comes over after having posted 27 points between Moose Jaw and Red Deer last season. The Houston, Texas native will join Max Gerlach and Dawson Davidson as Saskatoon’s three 20-year-olds this season.

Pats sign 10th-round pick

The Regina Pats signed their 10th round pick in the 2018 draft, defenseman Jake Johnson to a standard player agreement on Tuesday. He will spend the 2018-19 season with the Phoenix Jr. Coyotes U15 of the T1EHL U15 league.

Weekly report nuggets:

Kelowna Rockets: Kelvin Hair has been reassisgned. The 2000-born blue liner was originally a sixth-round pick in 2015 by the Rockets and played 30 games for the Rockets last season.

Prince George Cougars: 2001-born forward Kjell Kjemhus has been reassigned to Vernon of the BCHL. Kjemhus was acquired from Regina last year as part of the trade for Jesse Gabrielle.

Swift Current Broncos: 1999-born forward MacKenzie Wight was removed from the roster.

Vancouver Giants: Acquired 1998-born defenseman Ryan Pouliot via waivers after he was placed there by the Swift Current Broncos. Swift Current is now down to four overage players while the Giants are also at four with Pouliot joining Matt Barberis as 1998-born blue liners, while Davis Koch and Jared Dmytriw are overage forwards. They will not need to be in a hurry to cut down though as Barberis is out with an indefinite injury.

The Broncos have forwards Andrew Fyten and Tanner Nagel and defensemen Matt Stanley and Artyom Minulin as thier four 1998-born players.

  1. Jeff de Wit (Red Deer Rebels) – Scored pair of goals, added an assist in team’s 5-4 win over the Saskatoon Blades. Now leads team with five goals this season.
  2. Kirby Dach (Saskatoon Blades) – Recorded pair of assists, currently sits tied for second in WHL with 10 points this season.
  3. Brandon Hagel (Red Deer Rebels) – Dished out three assists, now leads WHL with 13 points.
