3 Stars of the Night: Miller nets first hat trick of 2018-19

In the very first of what will be a running feature, we will be taking a look at the very best each night in WHL action.

  1. Carson Miller – Three goals for the former first round Bantam Draft pick as his Prince Albert Raiders rolled over the Regina Pats 7-2. The 2000-born forward  had just 10 career WHL goals in 118 regular season games coming into tonight.
  2. James Hamblin – I guess the wrist is okay. The injury that the center for the Medicine Hat Tigers suffered in March of last year hat ended his season, did not dampen his play on Friday night as he netted a goal and two assists for three points and his Tigers defeated the Lethbridge Hurricanes 5-2.
  3. Brodi Suart – the 2000-born left wing notched two goals and an assist for three points as his Kamloops Blazers ran out to a 3-0 lead, before winning 4-1 over the Kelowna Rockets.

Honorable Mention: Max Gerlach had both goals as the Saskatoon Blades upset the banner raising festivities in Swift Current and out shot the Swift Current Broncos 36-16, beating them 2-1. A borderline offsides play that led to one of the goals, will have Broncos fans up in arms for awhile… Schael Higson had a goal and an assist as the Brandon Wheat Kings edged the Moose Jaw Warriors 2-1… Trey Fix-Wolansky had three assists as the Edmonton Oil Kings held off the visiting Red Deer Rebels 4-2… Griffen Outhouse stopped 28-of-29 of the Prince George Cougars shots and then all five shootout attempts as his Victoria Royals win thanks to a shootout goal by Dino Kambeitz 2-1… James Malm scored twice as the Vancouver Giants held off the visiting Everett Silvertips 3-1.
