5 WHL alumni on AHL all-star teams

On Wednesday the American Hockey League announced its divisional all-star teams. Calen Addison, Iowa Wild (31gp, 6+16=22pts., +7, 1 PPG, 7 PPA), Beck Warm, Chicago Wolves (8-4-1, 2.74gaa, .914sv%, 2so), and Cody Franson, Rockford IceHogs (26gp, 4+13=17pts., +1, 9 PPP) were named from the Central Division along with Josh Mahura, San Diego Gulls (28gp, 6+14=20pts., +9, 8 PPP, 1 GWG) and Logan Thompson, Henderson Silver Knights (16-6-1, 1.96gaa, .943sv%, 2so) from the Pacific Division.

Honka signs with Luleå Hockey

Defenseman Julius Honka (62GP, 16G, 40A with Swift Current ’13-’14) has signed with Luleå Hockey of the SHL. The Jyväskylä, FIN native split 2020-21 between Pelicans (Liiga, 9GP, 3G, 4A) and the Texas Stars (AHL, 17G, 1G, 4A). Honka was the 34th overall selection at the 2013 CHL Import Draft and the Dallas Stars picked him with the 14th overall selection at the 2014 NHL Draft.

Walters signs with Selber Wölfe

Defenseman Nick Walters (307GP, 11G, 55A with Everett, Brandon, and Lethbridge ’10-’15) has signed with Selber Wolfe of DEL2. 2021-22 will mark Walters’ fourth season in the DEL2. In 2020-21 Walters scored three goals and added seven assists through 45 games. Walters is a former fourth-round 2012 NHL Draft pick of the St. Louis Blues.

29 WHL prospects taken in USHL Futures Draft

The USHL held their annual U-17 Futures Draft on Wednesday with 29 players that had been selected by WHL teams being chosen. The Kamloops Blazers had four of their prospects taken in the draft, followed by the Portland Winterhawks. More can be found at the link above.
