Rebels deal Ward for Ungar

The Red Deer Rebels announced they have traded 19-year-old defenseman Mason Ward (83GP, 3G, 13A with Red Deer) to the Brandon Wheat Kings in exchange for 19-year-old goaltender Connor Ungar (15GP, 6-4-1, 2.92GAA, .905sv% with Brandon).

Rebels deal Wiebe, receive Keeler

The Red Deer Rebels also announced they have traded 19-year-old forward Jaxsen Wiebe (73GP, 9G, 11A with Red Deer) for 20-year-old forward Liam Keeler (214GP, 26G, 48A with Edmonton). The move now leaves Red Deer with four 20-year-old players including Byron Fancy, Arshdeep Bains, and Zak Smith.

Silvertips ink Lamanna

The Everett Silvertips announced on Monday that they have signed 2003-born forward Vincent Lamanna to a Standard Player Agreement. The undrafted Lamanna played 2020-21 with the Bonnyville Pontiacs of the AJHL, registering one assist in six games.

Schmid signed by Devils

Goaltender Akira Schmid (1GP, 0-1-0, 7.43GAA, .741sv% with Lethbridge ’18-’19) has signed with the New Jersey Devils, the team that selected him in the fifth round of the 2018 NHL Draft. Schmid spent the entire 2020-21 season with the Sioux City Musketeers, posting a 22-13-1 record, a 2.01 goals-against average and a .921 save percentage.

Golian signs with HC Slovan Bratislava

Defenseman Andrej Golian (15GP, 0G, 0A with Tri-City ’20-’21) has signed with HC Slovan Bratislava of Slovakia. Golian, a native of Banska Bystrica, Slovakia, had played nine games with HC Detva before the WHL season. He had one assist. Golian was also a member of the Slovakian entry in the 2021 IIHF World Junior Championships.

Maxwell signs in Linkoping

Forward Ben Maxwell (210GP, 64G, 95A with Kootenay ’03-’08) has signed with Linkoping HC of the SHL in Sweden. Maxwell spent 2020-21 playing with SCL Tigers of the SL in Switzerland, racking up 10 goals and 17 assists through 50 games. Maxwell was selected in the second round of the 2006 NHL Draft by the Montreal Canadiens. Maxwell was the second overall pick at the 2003 WHL Draft by the Kootenay ICE.

Okuliar signs with SaiPa

Forward Oliver Okuliar (55GP, 33G, 35A with Lethbridge ’19-’20) has signed with SaiPa of Liiga in Finland. Okuliar, a resident of Trencin, Slovakia, played last season with HK 32 Liptovsky Mikulas (6GP, 3G, 5A) and  HK Dukla Trencin (41GP, 17G, 22A). Okuliar was the 49th overall pick at the 2019 CHL Import Draft.
