Geekie scores first WHL goal

Forward Connor Geekie scored his first WHL goal on Saturday night, giving the Winnipeg ICE a 1-0 lead early in the first period. The ICE ultimately lost the game 3-2. Geekie was the second overall pick at the 2019 WHL Draft.

Funk scores first WHL goal

With 12:26 to play in the third period, Calgary Hitmen forward Zac Funk scored his first WHL goal to pull the Hitmen to within a goal of the Medicine Hat Tigers. The Tigers won the game by a 4-2 score. Funk was a second-round pick of the Hitmen in 2018.

Hyland scores first WHL goal

Forward Brett Hyland scored with 6:21 played in the second period to tie the Winnipeg ICE at 2-2. The Wheat Kings went on to win the game 3-2. Hyland was a second round pick of the Wheat Kings in 2018.

Lisowsky scores first WHL goal

Forward Brandon Lisowsky scored at 6:41 of the second period to tie the Swift Current Broncos at 1-1. Lisowsky scored a second goal with 2:48 left to play in regulation time as the Blades defeated the Broncos 4-2. Lisowsky was the ninth overall pick at the 2019 WHL Draft.

Evanoff returned to the Royals

Goaltender Adam Evanoff (101GP, 47-38-10, 3.10GAA, .905sv% with Moose Jaw and Victoria) has been returned to the Victoria Royals by the Stockton Heat following an amateur tryout. Evanoff did not appear in any games for the Heat. Evanoff was a 10th round selection of the Moose Jaw Warriors at the 2015 WHL Draft.

Warm earns first ever professional shutout

Goaltender Beck Warm (150GP, 71-56-13, 3.15GAA, .908sv% with Tri-City and Edmonton ’14-’20) collected his first professional shutout in a 4-0 win for the Chicago Wolves over the Iowa Wild. Warm has played in six AHL games this season and owns a 5-1-0 record with a 2.02 goals-against average and .944 save percentage. Warm signed as a free agent with the Carolina Hurricanes organization on March 5, 2021.

Tendeck called up to Roadrunners

Goaltender David Tendeck (145GP, 72-54-10, 2.96GAA, .905sv% with Vancouver ’15-’20) has been called up by the Tucson Roadrunners from the Rapid City Rush. This season with the Rush Tendeck has a 4-8-0 record, a 2.74 goals-against average, and a .913 save perentage. Tendeck was drafted by the Arizona Coyotes in the sixth-round of the 2018 NHL Draft and was signed on April 6, 2020.

Two WHL import picks on Czech U18 training camp roster

Forward Martin Rysavy, drafted sixth overall at the 2020 CHL Import Draft by the Moose Jaw Warriors and goaltender Tomas Suchanek, drafted ninth overall at the same draft by the Tri-City Americans, have been named to the Czech U18 training camp roster. Defenseman David Jiricek, drafted 54th overall by the Spokane Chiefs is expected to join the training camp.
