Board of Governors meeting results in changes to scheduling
The WHL has concluded its 2021 Annual General Meeting, with the 2021-22 Regular Season scheduled to begin Friday, October 1, 2021.

The WHL’s Board of Governors met on Tuesday and implemented several changes for the 2020-21 season. This includes a later start date to the season (October 1, 2021), no inter-conference play, and a return to the conference format for the playoffs. There were also several key dates announced.
- Season starts on October 1, 2021
- Season ends on April 3, 2022
- Home openers to be announced June 16
- Pre-season schedule announced June 21
- Regular-season schedule announced June 23
- Playoffs begin April 8
- WHL Final to begin on May 20, end no later than May 30
Chyzowski signs AHL deal

Recently graduated forward Ryan Chyzowski (280GP, 98G, 119A with Medicine Hat) has signed a two-year contract with the Toronto Marlies of the AHL. Chyzowski led the way for the Tigers in 2020-21, scoring 11 goals and adding 18 assists in 23 games. Medicine Hat made Chyzowski the 18th overall pick at the 2015 WHL Prospects Draft.
Bouma joins Malmo

31-year-old forward Lance Bouma (230GP, 39G, 76A with Vancouver ’05-’10) has signed with the Malmo Redhawks of the SHL. Bouma spent 2020-21 playing for IK Oskarshamn, scoring six times and adding seven assists in 21 games. The Calgary Flames selected Bouma in the third round of the 2008 NHL Draft and he went on to play 357 games for the Flames and the Chicago Blackhawks in his career (30G, 46A).
Bulmer signs with Trappers

29-year-old forward Brett Bulmer (178GP, 65G, 86A with Kelowna ’08-’12) has signed with the Tilburg Trappers of Germany3. Last season, Bulmer played for the Hanover Indians, scoring 37 goals and adding 39 assists in 39 games. The Minnesota Wild selected Bulmer in the second round of the 2010 NHL Draft, and he went on to play 17 NHL games over three seasons.

28-year-old forward Dominik Uher (181GP, 58G, 86A with Spokane ’09-’12) has signed a contract extension with the Fischtown Pinguins of the DEL. 2021-22 will be his fourth season with the club. Last season Uher scored eight goals and added 20 assists through 38 games. He also added two goals in three playoff games. The Spokane Chiefs selected Uher 47th overall at the 2009 CHL Import Draft. Uher was a fifth-round pick of the Pittsburgh Penguins in 2011.

Forward Colby Bear has agreed to head to the SJHL’s Battlefords North Stars for the 2021-22 season. Bear was an 11th round pick of the Regina Pats in the 2018 WHL Prospects Draft. Last season Bear played six games for the Pilot Mound Academy U17 Prep squad, scoring four goals and adding five assists.

In a statement provided by Trevor Redden on Twitter, he announced on Tuesday that he is stepping aside from his play-by-play role with the Prince Albert Raiders. Redden states that he is looking for more of a work/life balance and will be staying with Pattison Media in Prince Albert. Best wishes from DUBNetwork to Trevor as he embarks on a new journey.
