WHL holds lottery for CHL Import Draft pick selection
The Western Hockey League has announced the lottery results to determine the order of selection for WHL Clubs in the 2021 CHL Import Draft, scheduled for Wednesday, June 30.

Giving all teams an equal opportunity in their CHL Import Draft lottery, the Everett Silvertips earned the right to make the first WHL pick at the draft later this month. This means that the Silvertips will select between first and third overall. The final pick of the WHL’s portion of the draft belongs to the Victoria Royals.

Medicine Hat sent 2002-born defenceman Damon Agyeman (21GP, 1G, 1A) and a ninth-round draft pick in 2023 to the Royals for a conditional sixth-round draft pick in the same draft. Agyeman played in two games in the 2020-21 season for the Tigers, he was held pointless.
Dawes heads to Germany

Following 10 seasons in the KHL with three different teams forward Nigel Dawes (245GP, 159G, 113A with Kootenay ICE ’01-’05) has signed with Adler Mannheim of the DEL. Last season the 36-year-old Dawes played in 47 games, scored 23 goals, and added 20 assists as a member of Ak Bars Kazan. He also added three goals and three assists in 14 playoff games. Dawes was a fifth-round pick of the New York Rangers in 2003 and has 212 games of NHL experience.

Defenceman David Quenneville (250GP, 69G, 145A with Medicine Hat ’13-’18) has signed with IK Oskarshamn of the SHL for two seasons. Quenneville split 2020-21 between the Binghamton Devils (3GP, 0G,1A) and the Rapid City Rush (18GP, 1G, 12A). The New York Islanders drafted Quenneville in the seventh round of the 2016 NHL Draft. Quenneville was acquired by the Devils on February 16th, 2020.

Defenceman Sena Acolatse (322GP, 45G, 109A with Seattle, Saskatoon, and Prince George ’06-’11) has signed with the Iserlohn Roosters of the DEL. Acolatse played with the Straubing Tigers, also of the DEL in 2020-21. He posted six goals and six assists in 33 regular-season games. He also scored once and added an assist in three playoff games.
Brandl moves to Germany3 team

German forward Maximilian Brandl (77GP, 17G, 19A with Prince Albert and Portland ’07-09) has signed with Germany3 team Starbulls Rosenheim. Brandl spent the last two seasons with EV Landshut of DEL2. In 2020-21, Brandl scored four goals and added 11 assists in 50 regular-season games. The Prince Albert Raiders selected Brandl with the 64th pick at the 2007 CHL Import Draft.
Mulock re-signs with Tigers
Forward T.J. Mulock (170GP, 26G, 48A with Vancouver, Regina, and Kamloops ’01-’03, ’05-’06) has signed for a fourth season with the Straubing Tigers of the DEL. Last season, Mulock played in 37 games, scoring three goals and adding five assists. He also contributed one goal in three playoff games. Mulock has won three DEL Championships in his 12 seasons in Germany.

Danish forward Jonathan Brinkman (56GP, 13G, 14A with Medicine Hat ’19-’20) has signed with the Rodovre Mighty Bulls. In 2020-21 Brinkman played for the Aalborg Pirates of the Danish hockey league, posting five assists in 27 games. The Tigers selected Brinkman 34th overall at the 2019 CHL Import Draft.
