Oil Kings gear up for a potential season

The Edmonton Oil Kings announced a pair of trades on Monday, the first with the Saskatoon Blades. Headed to Saskatoon is Wyatt McLeod. The Oil Kings acquired a conditional ninth-round pick in the 2022 WHL Draft. Should the WHL season get underway, the condition will have been met.

The second deal of the day occurred between the Oil Kings and Seattle Thunderbirds. Headed to Seattle is forward Vladimir Alistrov in exchange for defenseman Simon Kubicek. Both teams threw in a conditional 2023 draft pick, the conditions are unknown at this time.

Blades announce import players will not return to Saskatoon this season

It was announced on Monday that the Saskatoon Blades would not have their import players in the lineup for the 2020-21 season should it begin this season. Both Martin Fasko-Rudas and Radek Kucerik are playing professionally overseas and the team does not want to interrupt their development with their current teams.

Giants’ import Lysell signs extension with Lulea Hockey

Fabian Lysell, the Vancouver Giants’ first-round selection, 30th overall in the 2020 CHL Import Draft has signed an extension with Lulea Hockey of the SHL in Sweden. Lysell is currently a highly ranked forward for the 2021 NHL Draft and has scored two goals in 13 games with Lulea. He has also played 11 games with Frolunda HC J20, scoring three times and adding 10 assists.

6 WHL alumni and players on Wolf Pack training camp roster

The Hartford Wolf Pack announced their training camp roster on Monday. The AHL affiliate of the New York Rangers have three current WHL players on their roster; Matthew Robertson, Braden Schneider, and Dylan Garand. There are also three WHL alumni on the roster including Jake Elmer, Mason Geertsen, and Ty Ronning.

The AHL affiliate of the Edmonton Oilers announced their training camp roster and it included five former WHL players; Jakob Stukel, James Hamlin, Tyler Benson, Adam Cracknell, and Ryan Stanton.

Foote sent to New Jersey Devils affiliate

Nolan Foote (195GP, 83G, 88A with Kelowna) has been assigned to the New Jersey Devils’ AHL affiliate, Binghamton Devils. While still eligible to play for the Kelowna Rockets, it is unlikely he would return to the team as he is a signed player for the New Jersey Devils. Foote was originally drafted by the Tampa Bay Lightning, 27th overall at the 2019 NHL Draft. He was traded with a first-round draft pick for Blake Coleman on February 16, 2020.

Tokarski sent to Buffalo Sabres affiliate

Dustin Tokarski (129GP, 77-39-7, 2.18GAA, .915sv% with Spokane ’06-’09) has been assigned to the Buffalo Sabres’ AHL affiliate, Rochester Americans. In 2007-08, Tokarski won the WHL Championship and Memorial Cup as a member of the Chiefs. Tokarski has also won the Calder Cup Championship as a member of the 2011-12 Norfolk Admirals and the 2018-19 Charlotte Checkers. The Tampa Bay Lightning drafted Tokarski in the fifth round of the 2008 NHL Draft, he is now signed by the Sabres.

Card signs with new DEL2 team

Mike Card (269GP, 35G, 112A with Kelowna ’02-’06) has left HEC Bad Nauheim for the Ravensburg Towerstars of the DEL2. Card is a two-time WHL Champion with the Rockets, having won in both 2002-03 and 2004-05, he also won a Memorial Cup with the Rockets in 2003-04. The Buffalo Sabres drafted Card at the 2004 NHL Draft in the eighth round.

Poletin and HC Dukla part ways

Michal Poletin (8GP, 1G, 1A with Regina ’09-’10) has mutually parted ways with HC Dukla of the Czech2 league. Poletin is also playing for Berani Zlin in the Czech Extraliga. He has one goal in 13 contests. With HC Dukla, Poletin scored once and added four assists in 13 games.

MacPherson called up

Dylan MacPherson (181GP, 6G, 37A with Medicine Hat ’15-’19) has been called up to the Wilkes-Barre/Scranton Penguins from the Wheeling Nailers. The Redcliff, AB native played mostly in the ECHL last season, scoring four goals and adding 13 assists in 54 games with the Greenville Swamp Rabbits. In 10 ECHL games this season with the Nailers, MacPherson had two assists.

Ingram voluntarily takes part in NHL/NHLPA player assistance program

Connor Ingram (158GP, 81-50-18, 2.68GAA, .918 sv% with Kamloops ’14-’17) has entered the player assistance program voluntarily. The NHL and NHL Players Association started the player assistance program in 1996, with players able to call a confidential phone line. The program assists players and their families with mental health, substance abuse, and other matters. Ingram had not played in the NHL with the Nashville Predators or their AHL affiliate this season but did play nine games with IF Bjorkloven of HockeyAllsvenskan in Sweden. He posted a 5-4-0 record with a 2.51 goals-against average and a .898 save percentage.
