Saskatchewan government ponies up for junior hockey
Sask Government has announced funding for junior hockey in the province.

The Saskatchewan Government announced yesterday that they are providing funding to the province’s junior hockey leagues. The Western Hockey League’s five teams are to receive $600,000 apiece which the entire SJHL receives $1 million. The government also supports the WHL’s plan to play a 24-game schedule.

In an article by Steve Ewen, he explains that the BCHL and WHL have come together in the province of British Columbia to request support by means of funding. It was not announced how much money has been requested specifically. There is also talk of six-week bubbles in Kelowna and- or Kamloops.
Purner moves up to Binghamton

The Binghamton Devils have picked up Adam Purner from the Portland Winterhawks. Purner has held a number of roles with the Winterhawks including Video Coach, Corporate Events Sales Manager, Hockey Video Coordinator, and Group Sales Account Manager. Purner’s tenure with the Winterhawks lasted five seasons.
Chan moves up to Toronto Marlies

Following four seasons as the video coach for the Edmonton Oil Kings, Michael Chan has moved up to the Toronto Marlies of the AHL. Chan has also been video coach for the University of Alberta and two seasons for Canada U17 Red.

Christoffer Sedoff (61GP, 5G, 14A with Red Deer) has been loaned to SaiPa of Liiga, following seven games with FPS (0G, 1A) in the Mestis league and six games with HIFK U20 (0G, 2A). SaiPa is able to keep Sedoff until the end of the period should his call up to Liiga go well.
Ferraro joins Kolner Haie

Landon Ferraro (220GP, 76G, 76A with Red Deer and Everett ’06-’11) has signed with Kolner Haie of the DEL. Ferraro had been with Lowen Frankfurt of the DEL2 for nine games this season, collecting five assists. He is a 2009 second-round selection of the Detriot Red Wings, playing 17 games for the team over three seasons. Overall he has played 77 NHL games as well as 354 AHL games. Ferraro was a member of the 2012-13 Grand Rapids Griffins that won the Calder Cup.

Boston Leier (259GP, 68G, 99A with Medicine Hat and Regina ’09-14) has signed with the Kansas City Mavericks of the ECHL. Last season Leier played in 29 games with the Kalamazoo Wings (ECHL, 10G, 9A) and seven games with the Charlotte Checkers (AHL, 0G, 0A)
