Regina may host East Division teams

As first reported by the Winnipeg Free Press’ Mike Sawatzky, Regina leads the way in securing teams for an East Division bubble. There are still some hurdles to overcome, including how and when Winnipeg and Brandon might be able to participate but the situation is moving in a more positive direction.

Hitmen head to “new” home ice for the season

Due to NHL and AHL COVID-19 protocols, the Calgary Hitmen have been forced to “relocate” for the 2020-21 season. The team will now play its home games at the Seven Chiefs Sportsplex on Tsuut’ina Nation, southwest of Calgary. The Hitmen have a good relationship with the Tsuut’ina, having hosted indigenous ceremonies at its home games at the Saddledome as well as having held events at the Seven Chiefs Sportsplex.

Chief announce they have released import goaltender Parik

Goaltender Lukas Parik (32GP, 22-7-2, 2.73GAA, .917sv% with Spokane) has been released by the Spokane Chiefs and made his USHL debut with Dubuque last weekend. In three games he is 2-1-0 with a 1.84 goals-against average and .930 save percentage. Parik also participated in the 2021 IIHF World Junior Championships posting a 1-1-0 record with a 3.77 goals-against average and a .887 save percentage. Parik is an unsigned Los Angeles Kings 2019 third-round draft pick.

Korczak joins Golden Knights taxi squad

Kaedan Korczak (199GP, 18G, 80A with Kelowna ’16-’20) has been called up to serve on the Vegas Golden Knights taxi squad. The 20-year-old forward had been sent to Henderson to play with the Silver Knights but was recalled before he played a regular-season game for the team. Korczak had one assist in seven games as he participated for Team Canada at the 2021 IIHF World Junior Championships.

Jacqument signs extension with Geneve-Servette HC

Arnaud Jacquement (115GP, 40G, 42A with Kootenay’06-’08) has signed an extension with Geneve-Servette HC of the NL in Switzerland. Jacquement is in his eighth season with the team, where he has scored one goal and nine assists this season in 27 games. Jacquement serves as an assistant captain, for the third time in four seasons. The contract keeps Jacquement with the team until the end of the 2022-23 season.

Walker signs with team in Slovakia

Forward Jack Walker (318GP, 101G, 147A with Victoria ’12-’17) has signed with DVTK Jegesmedvek of Slovakia following his departure from Langenthal (Swiss League). While with Langenthal, Walker scored six goals and added eight assists over 30 games.
