No positive COVID-19 tests in second week of first phase of testing

The Calgary Hitmen completed all testing requirements, which included a test upon arriving in Calgary, and a follow-up test. There were no positive results among the 59 tests administered. The results mean that the Hitmen can commence team on-ice activities.

Americans sign Barnes

Forward Jack Barnes has been signed to a WHL Standard Player Agreement by the Tri-City Americans. Barnes was a fifth-round pick of the Americans in 2015. Barnes had previously opted to play in the BCHL and had played three seasons with the Penticton Vees. Over 156 games, Barnes scored 21 goals and added 21 assists.

Bellerive called up to Penguins

Forward Jordy Bellerive (274GP, 117G, 150A with Lethbridge ’15-’19) has been recalled by the Pittsburgh Penguins for assignment to their taxi squad. Bellerive has played three games with the Penguins AHL affiliate in Wilkes-Barre/Scranton, scoring two goals. The second overall pick at the 2014 WHL Draft was not drafted into the NHL and was signed by the Penguins on September 16, 2017.

Marlies sign Dakota Krebs

Defenseman Dakota Krebs (308GP, 13G, 49A with Tri-City and Calgary ’15-20) has been signed to an amateur tryout by the Toronto Marlies. Krebs had previously committed to the University of Calgary Dinos for the 2020-21 season but COVID-19 has canceled their season.

Guhle to San Diego on Long-Term Injury Conditioning Loan

Defenseman Brendan Guhle (233GP, 30G, 73A with Prince Albert and Prince George ’13-’17) has been assigned to the San Diego Gulls by the Anaheim Ducks. Guhle will be on a long-term injury conditioning loan with the Gulls but currently remains on the injured reserve. Guhle has yet to play this season after splitting last season between the Gulls (27GP, 4G, 10A) and Ducks (30GP, 4G, 4A).

Mahura heads to Ducks taxi squad

Defenseman Josh Mahura (186GP, 41G, 90A with Red Deer and Regina ’14-’18) has been recalled by the Anaheim Ducks from the San Diego Gulls to serve on the teams taxi squad. Mahura was a third-round pick of the Anaheim Ducks in 2016 and signed a three-year contract on May 17, 2017, which included an entry-level slide season. In six games with the Gulls this season, Mahura has one goal and three assists. Mahura was a member of the 2015-16 Red Deer Rebels and 2017-18 Regina Pats that hosted the Memorial Cup.

Tendeck recalled to Coyotes taxi squad

Goaltender David Tendeck (145GP, 72-54-10, 2.96GAA, .905sv% with Vancouver ’15-’20) has been recalled by the Arizona Coyotes from the Rapid City Rush. Tendeck has played 13 games with the Rush this season, compiling a 4-8-0 record, a 2.74 goals-against average, and a .913 save percentage. Tendeck is a signed 2018 sixth-round NHL pick of the Coyotes.

Bafaro and Longo clear WHL waivers

Defensemen Seth Bafaro (206GP, 13G, 32A with Tri-City, Saskatoon, and Vancouver) and Trevor Longo (135GP, 11G, 22A with Medicine Hat and Vancouver) have been released and subsequently cleared WHL waivers on Friday. Bafaro was a 2015 third-round WHL Draft pick of the Tri-City Americans and Longo was a sixth-round pick by the Medicine Hat Tigers in the same draft.

Blazers release Carpendale

Forward Tyler Carpendale (89GP, 11G, 19A with Seattle and Kamloops) has been placed on and has cleared WHL waivers. Carpendale was a 2015 sixth-roundw WHL Draft pick of the Seattle Thunderbirds.
