Daily Dose of the DUB: Zary returned to Blazers, Royals name captain, Silvertips and Blades name leadership groups and more

 

Zary returned to Blazers

Forward Connor Zary (188GP, 73G, 109A with Kamloops) has been returned to the Blazers for the 24-game hub season by the Stockton Heat. In nine games with the Heat Zary has scored three goals and added four assists. Zary also participated in the IIHF World Junior Championship where he collected two assists in seven games. The Calgary Flames drafted Zary 24th overall at the 2020 NHL Draft and signed him to a three-year entry-level contract on December 31, 2020.

Korczak returned to Rockets

Defenseman Kaedan Korczak (199GP, 18G, 80A with Kelowna) has been returned to the Rockets from the Henderson Silver Knights. With the Silver Knights, Korczak has two assists in nine games. Korczak also participated at the IIHF World Junior Championships where he had an assist in seven games. The Vegas Golden Knights made Korczak a second-round pick at the 2019 NHL Draft and signed him on December 21, 2019.

Fizer named Royals captain

Forward Tarun Fizer (170GP, 34G, 60A with Victoria) has been named the eighth captain in Victoria Royals history. The now 20-year-old Fizer enters his fourth season with the Royals as the team heads into the BC hub for the 24-game schedule.

Blades name leadership group

On Thursday the Saskatoon Blades named their leadership group, with forward Chase Wouters (259GP, 65G, 94A) as captain. Also, assistant captains were named and include defenseman Aidan De La Gorgendiere (111GP, 4G, 29A) and forwards Caiden Daley (259GP, 25G, 53A with Brandon, Regina, and Saskatoon) and Tristen Robins (134GP, 42G, 57A with Regina and Saskatoon).

Silvertips name leadership group

Following a previous announcement of co-captains Cole Fonstad and Gianni Fairbrother, the Everett Silvertips announced their group of alternate captains. Forwards Gage Goncalves (128GP, 34G, 52A), Jackson Berezowski (126GP, 29G, 22A), Ethan Regnier (184GP, 26G, 42A with Swift Current and Everett), defenseman Ronan Seeley (115GP, 4G, 37A), and goaltender Dustin Wolf (127GP, 88-31-6, 1.85GAA, .934sv%) have all been named part of the leadership group.

Golden Knights make roster moves

Goaltender Logan Thompson (122GP, 63-41-10, 3.26GAA, .905sv% with Brandon ’14-’18) has been recalled by the Vegas Golden Knights from the Henderson Silver Knights. Foward Tyrell Goulbourne (275GP, 60G, 65A with Kelowna ’09-’15) has been reassigned to the Silver Knights by the Golden Knights.

Bow reassigned to Texas Stars

Goaltender Landon Bow (160GP, 74-56-13, 2.91GAA, .912sv% with Swift Current and Seattle ’12-’16) has been reassigned to the Texas Stars from the Dallas Stars. Bow has yet to see any game action this season but is the all-time leader in wins with the Texas Stars with 63.

Devils make roster moves

Forward Nick Merkley (245GP, 85G, 174A with Kelowna ’12-’17) has been recalled from Binghamton to serve on the New Jersey Devils taxi squad. Merkley was a 2015 first-round NHL Draft pick of the New Jersey Devils.

Broda finished with 99ers

Forward Joel Broda (330GP, 141G, 121A with Tri-City, Moose Jaw, and Calgary ’04-’10) has parted ways with Graz99ers of the ICEHL. In his only season with Graz99ers, Broda scored 10 goals and added 14 assists in 46 games. It is unknown where the 31-year-old Yorkton, SK native is headed, he has played six seasons in the EBEL/ICEHL.

Shmyr released by Grizzlies

Forward Braylon Shmyr (300GP, 111G, 129A with Brandon and Saskatoon ’12-’18) has been released by the Utah Grizzlies of the ECHL. Shmyr has played for four different ECHL teams and two AHL teams over the last four seasons. This season with the Allen Americans and Grizzlies, Shmyr scored three goals and added three assists in 14 games.
