Winterhawks tell season ticketholders plans to play at VMC in 2020-21

As part of an email regarding the upcoming season for the Portland Winterhawks, the team let their season ticket holders know that they will be playing all of their home games at the Veterans Memorial Coliseum due to a backlog of concerts to be rescheduled as well as the NBA’s use of the Moda Center for the Portland Trail Blazers season. Season ticket prices will also remain the same price as 2019-20.

Oil Kings announce the signing of Svanenbergs

The product of Riga, Latvia, Svanenbergs is the first WHL selection of the 2020 CHL Import Draft to sign with the team that chose him. Over three seasons in the MHL (Russia’s Major Junior Hockey League) Svanenbergs scored 39 goals and added 35 assists. He also played 12 games in the KHL with Dinamo Riga, collecting an assist.

Former Tiger sounds off on U of A

With his fifth and final USports season hanging in the balance, Sanford (260GP, 126G, 123A with Medicine Hat & Regina) took to social media to express his frustration that the University of Alberta Golden Bears remains the only team to completely cancel their USports hockey season. Sanford won a University Cup with the Golden Bears in 2017-18.

ICE launch NHL20 E-Gaming Tournament

In partnership with Uniting Gamers, the Winnipeg ICE announced the details of the launch of an NHL20 E-gaming Tournament to take place from July 20-22, 2020.

“The winners on each platform will receive a Full Season Access Pass to the Winnipeg ICE 2020-2021 season, an ICE hat, an ICE t-shirt, and the opportunity to play against a Winnipeg ICE player in NHL 20 which will be live-streamed on twitch on the ICE social media channels.”

Irving signs with HC Litvinov

Following a season with Orebro HK of the SHL, Irving (276GP, 42G, 99A with Edmonton Oil Kings) has signed with HC Litvinov of the Czech top league. The former Oil Kings defenseman won a WHL Championship and Memorial Cup in 2013-14. He scored six goals and added 10 assists last season with Orebro HK.
