Daily Dose of the Dub: WHL hands out two indefinite suspensions; three stars of the night

Richards out indefinitely:

The WHL handed out an indefinite suspension for Seattle Thunderbirds forward Sean Richards. He was given a five minute major and game misconduct under five minutes into Seattle’s 4-3 Game 4 victory over the Vancouver Giants.

The player he hit, Aidan Barfoot did not return to the game and skated off gingerly under his own power.

Richards has been suspended six times now with two coming this season. This is his first time being suspended with Seattle though, after coming over from Everett in a trade deadline deal for Zack Andrusiak. Prior to this suspension, Richards has missed a total of 20 games in his career due to discipline handed down by the WHL.

McDonald out as well

Another overage forward faced the wrath of the league on Thursday as well. Victoria’s Kody McDonald was given an indefinite suspension for the above stick-related incident.

McDonald has been suspended twice before. Both were three game suspensions while he was playing with Prince George.

Three stars of the night:

  1. Dustin Wolf (Everett) – He stopped all 24 shots from the Tri-City Americans. Everett now leads their best-of-seven series 3-1. The shutout was his first in the post-season and 12th overall in his career.
  2. Jack McNaughton (Calgary) – He turned away 37-of-39, powering his Hitmen to a 5-2 in and tying their series with the Lethbridge Hurricanes at two wins apiece.
  3. Riley Stotts (Calgary) – He had a goal and two assists for three points in the Hitmen win.

Honorable mentions: Bryce Kindopp had a goal and an assist in the Everett win… Ryder Korczak had three assists for the Hitmen…
