WHL cancels regular season

The WHL announced the decision to cancel the remaining 54 games on the regular-season schedule due to COVID-19 concerns. However, the league says they will make every effort to conduct the 2020 WHL Playoffs at a later date. The final regular-season standings have been decided based on points percentage with the Portland Winterhawks winning the Scotty Munro Memorial Trophy as regular-season champions and the Seattle Thunderbirds securing the last spot for the 2020 WHL Playoffs. The WHL has announced the conclusion of the 2019-20 regular season. The league hopes to resume play with the 2020 WHL Playoffs at a later date. We finished the reg season 3rd in the BC Div with a 0.563 win percentage (32-24-6-2).

Winterhawks sign Cagnoni

The Portland Winterhawks have signed defenseman Luca Cagnoni to a WHL Education Contract. The Burnaby, BC native had been on the Winterhawks protected list since September of 2019. This season he captained the Burnaby Winter Club E15 team and scored seven goals with 22 assists in 34 games.

The Winnipeg ICE will be slowly releasing its team awards for the 2019-20 season over the next few days. They kicked things off with the Unsung Hero award which went to Connor McClennon. In 42 games this season he had 21 goals and 28 assists.
