Brandon Wheat Kings sold by McCrimmon

Following 28 years as owner of the Brandon Wheat Kings, Kelly McCrimmon has sold the franchise to J&G Group of Companies. The deal will officially change hands on September 15th, 2020.

Zabransky joins HC Energie Karlovy Vary

Libor Zabransky (159GP, 8G, 41A with Kelowna, Saskatoon, Moose Jaw, and Kamloops ’17-’20) has signed with HC Energie Karlovy Vary of the top professional league in the Czech Republic. Zabransky also played in international tournaments for the Czech Republic last season, including the IIHF World Junior Championships where he had four goals in five games.

Hajek loaned to HC Kometa Brno

The New York Rangers have loaned former Saskatoon Blade / Regina Pat, Libor Hajek to HC Kometa Brno of the Czech Republic’s top professional league. The Smrcek, CZE native scored 19 goals and added 72 assists in 192 games in the WHL. More information can be found on the HC Kometa Brno team website.

Kechkin signs with MHK Krylia Sovetov Moskova

Ivan Kechkin (3GP, 0G, 0A with Prince Albert) has signed with MHK Krylia Sovetov Moskova of the MHL in Russia. The Moskva, RUS native played mostly with Kapitan Stupino, also of the MHL.

Recchi joins New Jersey Devils coaching staff

Mark Recchi (178GP, 109G, 183A with New Westminster and Kamloops ’84-’88) has joined the coaching staff of the New Jersey Devils as an assistant. Recchi, a native of Kamloops, has had success throughout his hockey career, including an IIHF World Junior Championship, a World Championship, and three Stanley Cups.

Recchi remains a part-owner of the Kamloops Blazers, as well as having worked in the NHL with the Pittsburgh Penguins and Dallas Stars.

Miner temporarily joins team as goaltending coach

Trent Miner (69GP, 41-20-3-2, 2.56GAA, .909sv% with Vancouver) has joined the U15 AA Wheat Kings as a goaltending coach for the upcoming season until he returns to the Giants. Miner is also head instructor at Westman Elite Goaltending school. Miner turned 19-years-old on February 5th.
