Daily Dose of the Dub: Wheat Kings sign Trembecky, Pats to release Cikhart

Wheat Kings sign Trembecky

The Brandon Wheat Kings have signed Teydon Trembecky to his WHL Education Contract. Trembecky was drafted in the third round of the 2020 WHL Bantam Draft from the Northern Alberta Xtreme in the CSSHL. He finished second on the team in points with 22 goals and 22 assists in 30 games. He is the Wheat Kings third prospect to sign from this year’s Bantam Draft.

Pats to release Cikhart

A report from the Regina Leader-Post reveals the Regina Pats plan to release Jan Cikhart prior to this year’s CHL Import Draft. Cikhart struggled to transition to the WHL this season, and a mid-season trade from Tri-City to Regina probably didn’t help matters much. He finished the year with three goals and five assists in 49 games. With Cikhart gone, the Pats will turn their attention to recruiting Danil Gushchin who they selected seventh overall in last year’s Import Draft. Gushchin has spent the last two years with the USHL’s Muskegon Lumberjacks and is eligible for this year’s NHL Entry Draft. If the Pats are unable to bring him in they will select a player in this year’s Import Draft.

Fiddler-Schultz named Humanitarian of the Year

Riley Fiddler-Schultz has battled injuries in each of his first two seasons with the Calgary Hitmen. You wouldn’t blame him for getting dejected, packing up his bags, and going home to recover. But that’s not what we’ve seen from the 17-year-old. Fiddler-Schultz has decided to use the time off to make an impact on the Calgary community with initiatives such as “Fidd’s Friends” which hosts young kids from the Boys and Girls Club of Calgary at Hitmen home games. He’s now being recognized for his work by the WHL, being named the league’s Humanitarian of the year.
