Warriors cut five from training camp roster

The Moose Jaw Warriors have cut five players from their training camp roster. Jagger Firkus and Denton Mateychuk are not eligible to play in the WHL full-time this season so it was inevitable they would return to their midget teams. Atley Calvert, Max Wanner, and Josh Hoekstra have all signed with the Warriors and could have started the year with a Moose Jaw team that appears to be headed for a rebuild this season.

Bouma signs professional try-out with Kings 

Rick Dhaliwal of Sportsnet650 in Vancouver is reporting that Lance Bouma (230 GP, 39 G, 76 A with the Vancouver Giants) has signed a professional try-out contract with the NHL’s Los Angeles Kings. The former third-round pick of the Calgary Flames played in Switzerland last season recording two assists in three games. In 357 NHL games with the Flames and Chicago Blackhawks, Bouma has 39 goals and 76 assists.

Wrenn requests release from Austrian league team 

William Wrenn (89 GP, 5 G, 24 A with the Portland Winterhawks) has requested his release from Dornbirner EC in Austria due to injury. The 28-year-old defenseman played last season in the DEL in Germany with Grizzlys Wolfsburg where he notched one goal and nine assists in 46 games.
