Daily Dose of the Dub: Vancouver swings a couple deals; Tigers trade Rybinski

Giants complete two trades

In the Giants’ first of two deals on the day, the team acquired ’99 born forward Jadon Joseph from the Regina Pats in exchange for a second round pick in 2019 and a 2020 sixth round pick.

Joseph’s time in Regina was brief, having been acquired in a November 30th trade that sent Nick Henry and Jake Leschychyn to Lethbridge. This season with Lethbridge/Regina he has produced 25 points in 36 games.

Giants acquire Hines

The Giants’ second deal of the day was made to bolster the team’s blueline. Vancouver sent ’00 Cyle McNabb to the Kootenay ICE in exchange for ’98 Dallas Hines. The move brings the Giants back up to the league maximum of three overage players with Matt Barberis out due to injury.

McNabb, a Winnipeg native, had one goal and two assists in 34 games this season in Vancouver and brings some depth to Kootenay.

Hines has played all 221 of his WHL games in Cranbrook, collecting 16 goals and 52 assists in the meantime.

Tigers move on from Rybinski

The Medicine Hat Tigers have traded ’01 born forward Henry Rybinski to Seattle for prospect D Aidan Brook, 2019 second round pick and a 2020 third round pick.

Rybinski had five points in 14 games before leaving the team in late November and asking for a trade. Meanwhile, he’s been with the Coquitlam Express of the BCHL where he put up 12 points in just nine games.

Brook was selected by the Thunderbirds in the fourth round, 76th overall in the 2018 Bantam Draft and currently plays for Rink Hockey Academy Elite 15 team where he has 20 points in 25 games this season.
