Hitmen fowards hit centennial mark

Calgary Hitmen forwards Cael Zimmerman and Hunter Campbell both hit milestones recently. The two second year forwards achieved 100 WHL games played respectively, with Campbell doing it in a 7-3 loss to Prince Albert Saturday night and Zimmerman played in his 100th in a 6-4 loss to Lethbridge on December 16th.

Zimmerman was the Hitmen’s second round pick, 44th overall in the 2016 Bantam Draft and has produced ten goals and 25 assists in 108 games with the Hitmen.

Campbell was picked the round after Zimmerman, going in the third round, 60th overall. The Everett native has 20 points in 100 WHL games.

Lamb solid in return

’98 goaltender Riley Lamb had an outstanding performance in his first WHL action since last March, stopping 47 of 49 shots to lead the Broncos to a 4-2 win over the Brandon Wheat Kings on Sunday afternoon. Lamb was signed by the Broncos on January 9th after trading Joel Hofer to Portland for six draft picks, the 20-year-old had been playing in the SJHL, splitting time between Weyburn and Yorkton. He is a veteran of 74 WHL games, having spent the previous two seasons with the Red Deer Rebels.

Three Stars of the Night

1st Star: Vancouver forward Davis Koch had a goal and two assists with seven shots on goal, including the WHL’s Highlight of the Night.

2nd Star: Edmonton captain Trey Fix-Wolansky had a goal and two assists to bring him up to 75 points this season.

3rd Star: Swift Current’s Riley Lamb had 47 saves in his Broncos debut, beating Brandon 4-2.
