Thunderbirds sign Ludwig to WHL Education Contract

The Seattle Thunderbirds have signed forward Gabe Ludwig to his WHL Education Contract. Drafted in the second round of the 2019 WHL Bantam Draft, he suited up for the Pittsburgh Penguins Elite U15 team (stats unavailable) in 2019-20. He becomes the fifth player from the 2019 WHL Bantam Draft to sign with the Thunderbirds.

Tendeck signs with Coyotes

David Tendeck (145 GP, 2.96 GAA, .905 Save Percentage, 72-54-6-4 record with the Vancouver Giants from 2015-20) has signed an entry-level contract with the NHL’s Arizona Coyotes. The Coyotes selected Tendeck in the sixth round of the 2018 NHL Entry Draft and will see him turn pro inside their organization next season.

Hayes signs AHL Contract for 2020-21

Zack Hayes (272 GP, 15 G, 64 A with the Prince Albert Raiders from 2015-20) has signed an AHL contract with the still-unnamed AHL affiliate of the Vegas Golden Knights who will play next season out of Henderson, Nevada.

Rebels announce team awards

The Red Deer Rebels announced their team awards on Monday:

  • Ethan Sakowich took home the Defenseman of the Year, the Player’s Player Award, co-winner of the Humanitarian of the Year and Team MVP.
  • Arshdeep Bains is the team’s Top Scorer of the Year.
  • Josh Tarzwell was voted the Most Underrated Player of the Year.
  • Ethan Anders won the Three Stars Award.
  • Christoffer Sedoff is this year’s Rookie of the Year.
  • Cam Hausinger is co-winner of the Humanitarian of the Year.

Thunderbirds name Defenseman of the Year and Most Popular Player

Seattle Thunderbirds defenseman Tyrel Bauer took home two awards on Monday as the T-Birds Defenseman of the Year and Most Popular Player of the Year.

WHL announces Second All-Star Teams

The WHL announced the “Second” All-Star Team for the Western and Eastern Conference on Monday.

In the East, Edmonton Oil Kings forward, Riley Sawchuk, Calgary Hitmen Forward Mark Kastelic, and Winnipeg ICE forward Peyton Krebs lead the way. Oil Kings defenseman Matthew Robertson and Lethbridge Hurricanes defenseman Alex Cotton anchor the blueline and Prince Albert Raiders netminder Max Paddock is between the pipes.

Out West, Zane Franklin from the Kamloops Blazers, Bryce Kindopp from the Everett Silvertips and Eli Zummack are the forwards on the second team, Vancouver Giants defenseman Bowen Byram and Silvertips defenseman Jake Christiansen are the defensemen and Portland Winterhawks goaltender Joel Hofer is in net.
