Daily Dose of the Dub: Sogaard named CHL Goalie of the Week; Blazers hire alumnus as Assistant Coach

Medicine Hat Tigers goalie Mads Sogaard was named CHL Goaltender of the Week for the second time this season after posting a 3-0-0-0 record with a 1.30 GAA, .960 save percentage and a shutout. The 2019 NHL Draft prospect has a record of 15-4-2-0 with a 2.19 GAA, a .935 save percentage and three shutouts.

The Lethbridge Hurricanes announced they will be holding a media conference tomorrow at 10am MST to announce plans for the 2019 WHL Playoffs. The team is expected to announce where they will be playing their games during the postseason with the 2019 World Men’s Curling Championships being held at the ENMAX Centre, home of the Lethbridge Hurricanes, from March 30th to April 7th.

Calgary Hitmen: Goalie Jack McNaughton took forward Josh Prokop‘s name on the injury list. McNaughton is listed as being out day-to-day. 2002-born netminder Brayden Peters is back up to provide the Hitmen with a second goalie behind Carl Stankowski.

Kamloops Blazers: Import forward Martin Lang is listed as out day-to-day.

Kootenay ICE: Defenseman Brenden Kwiatkowski is out day-to-day and forward River Fahey is projected to miss a week.

Medicine Hat Tigers: Swedish import d-man Linus Nassen (day-to-day) joined forward Hayden Ostir and defenseman Joel Craven as on the shelf.

Moose Jaw Warriors: Forward Kaeden Taphorn is out week-to-week with an upper body ailment.

Portland Winterhawks: Overage defenseman Brendan De Jong has a lower body injury and is listed as being out day-to-day. He joins star center Cody Glass on the Weekly Report.

Prince Albert Raiders: Both of the players from the Raiders that played for Hockey Canada at the 2019 World Juniors are out. Goalie Ian Scott and forward Brett Leason are both out day-to-day.

Prince George Cougars: Forward Mitch Kohner, who was on the end of a high check from Vancouver Giants defenseman Bowen Byram is listed as a being out “TBD” with an upper body injury. Byram was not suspended for the hit.

Regina Pats: Forward Duncan Pierce joined goalie Dean McNabb as a day-to-day decision.

Saskatoon Blades: Star center Kirby Dach is out day-to-day.

Seattle Thunderbirds: Import d-man Simon Kubicek is out day-to-day.

Spokane Chiefs: Forward Kaden Hanas is now out week-to-week.

Vancouver Giants: Forwards Brayden Watts (week-to-week) and Evan Patrician (day-to-day) joined Dawson Holt on the shelf.

Victoria Royals: It is a crowded list with d-man Jake Kustra (day-to-day) back on there with forwards Logan Doust (day-to-day) and Sean Gulka (week-to-week). They join d-man Ralph Jarratt and forward Tyus Gent who have been longtime injury list mentions. Everett jr. Silvertips forward Alex Bolshakov has been called up to help.

2nd Star: Spokane’s Ty Smith scored two goals including the overtime winner in a victory over the Rebels.

3rd Star: Tri-City’s Sasha Mutala scored the game winning goal and added an assist in a 4-3 win over Seattle.
