Daily Dose of the Dub: Six prospects sign contracts, Hamblin signs in pros

 

Giants sign Leslie 

Continuing the rapid pace of first-round picks signing, the Vancouver Giants signed 10th overall pick Mazden Leslie to his WHL Education Contract. Our Stephen Hawco spoke to him after the news broke and you can read that here.  As well, our friends at DUBNetwork Scouting have profiled him here. 

Oil Kings sign Seitz

The Edmonton Oil Kings have signed first-round pick Dawson Seitz to his WHL Education Contract. Seitz was limited to just seven games in 2019-20 due to injury but was a goal-per-game player finishing with seven goals. You can check out his DUBNetwork Scouting profile here. 

Americans sign second-round pick McMillan

The Tri-City Americans signed second-round pick Deagan McMillan. Playing alongside Americans first-round pick Lukas Dragicevic in 2019-20, McMillan had 20 goals and 31 assists in 27 games last season. His DUBNetwork Scouting profile can be found here.

Thunderbirds sign second-round pick Dube

The Seattle Thunderbirds signed Brayden Dube from the Parkland Rangers Bantam AAA squad. Dube finished the year with an eye-popping 74 goals and 56 assists in 36 games last season. To view his DUBNetwork Scouting profile, click here. 

Warriors sign second-round pick Riche

The Moose Jaw Warriors signed 2020 second-round pick Ben Riche to his WHL Education Contract. Last season he finished with 34 goals and 37 assists in 29 games with the Prairie Storm of the SBHL. Warriors fans looking to learn more about the player they’re getting can do so here. 

Ice sign third-round pick Oiring 

The Winnipeg ICE signed 2020 third-round pick Aiden Oiring to his WHL Education contract. Oiring was the captain of the Calgary Royals in the Alberta Bantam AAA league’s in 2019-20 and led the league with 28 goals and 45 assists in just 32 games, taking home the league’s Most Oustanding Forward and Player awards.

Condors sign Hamblin to a two-year contract 

The AHL’s Bakersfield Condors have signed James Hamblin (323 GP, 115 G, 168 A with the Medicine Hat Tigers from 2015-20) to a two-year AHL contract. The Condors are the AHL affiliate of Hamblin’s hometown Edmonton Oilers and there’s no doubt Hamblin would love to get an opportunity to suit up with them.

Holt joins Huskies

Dawson Holt (208 GP, 25 G, 54 A with the Vancouver Giants and Regina Pats from 2014-20) will be joining the University of Saskatchewan Huskies for the 2020-21 season.

Fisenko signs extension in KHL

Mikhail Fisenko (179 GP, 32 G, 79 A with the Vancouver Giants and Calgary Hitmen from 2008-2011) signed a two-year contract extension with Ak Bars Kazan in the KHL. Last season was his first with the club and he finished with seven goals and six assists in 40 games.

Gernat, Stransky sign extension with Trinec

Martin Gernat (83 GP, 12 G, 56 A with the Edmonton Oil Kings from 2011-13) has signed a one-year contract extension with Trinec in the Czech Republic. Last season the former Edmonton Oilers fifth-rounder had six goals and a team-leading 28 assists in 50 games.

Also signing an extension with Trinec is forward Matej Stransky (213 GP, 93 G, 99 A with the Saskatoon Blades from 2010-13). The former Dallas Stars sixth-rounder led the team in goals (23) and points (45) in 52 games in 2019-20.

Royals name Fizer Hardest Working Player

The Victoria Royals named Tarun Fizer the team’s hardest-working player for the 2019-20 season.
