Silvertips sign Hofer

The Everett Silvertips signed Ryan Hofer to a Standard Player Agreement on Monday. The 18-year-old forward was never drafted in the WHL and joins the ‘Tips from their protected list. He played with the Pursuit of Excellence Midget Prep team in the CSSHL this season registering 26 goals and 25 assists. He also happens to be the younger brother of Portland Winterhawks goaltender Joel Hofer. If the elder Hofer returns to the WHL for his overage season that could be another wrinkle to the Everett-Portland rivalry.

Chiefs announce $12,000 raised for Every Woman Can

The Spokane Chiefs say that proceeds from a blind auction on Chiefs Fight Cancer night, as well as sales of Chiefs Fight Cancer t-shirts, helped to raise $12,000 to be donated to Every Woman Can to fund cancer treatment and research.

Blichfeld named Barracuda Rookie of the Year

Joachim Blichfeld (187 GP, 105 G, 123 A with the Portland Winterhawks from 2016-2019) has been named the San Jose Barracuda’s Rookie of the Year. Blichfeld was drafted by the San Jose Sharks in the seventh round of the 2016 NHL Entry Draft. Suiting up for their AHL affiliate he had 16 goals and 16 assists in 44 games and he even managed to sneak into three NHL games but was held pointless.

Sawchenko shares memories of CF Snowbirds

On Sunday, the City of Kamloops and Canada bore witness to a horrific tragedy as a CF Snowbirds’ plane crashed into a home. The crash killed Public Affairs Officer Jennifer Casey and injured Pilot Richard MacDougall. The team is based out of Moose Jaw, Saskatchewan, and has developed a relationship with the Moose Jaw Warriors. Former Warriors goaltender Zach Sawchenko took to Twitter to share memories of flying with the Snowbirds during his time in Moose Jaw.
